QPR v Leicester City Preview, Championship, Saturday 21st December 2013

Queens Park Rangers seem to have recovered from the defeat to 20th placed Doncaster Rovers back at the end of November and have since then recorded another two wins and a draw which still keeps them top of the Championship with two points gap over closest their closest challengers Burnley and Saturdays opponents Leicester City. The home side can take into account that Leicester City who still sit in third have not won a game in December so far. Having lost 3 including the home defeat to Manchester City in the Capital One Cup this week.

Leicester City will need to start picking up their game once more if they look to remain Championship challengers this year have not won a league game since the end of November where they beat Millwall 3 – 0 at home. Since then they have lost away from home against Sheffield Wednesday who are battling away in the relegation zone and then also to 8th placed Brighton & Hove Albion. they did however pick up a point at home against current 2nd place Burnley who themselves have a tough game at the weekend away to 6th placed Leeds United.

QPR v Leicester City Team News

QPR News:

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp this week gave Moroccan international Adel Taarabt a clean slap in the face as told in the Fulham Chronicle. The 24 year old never really see eye to eye with Mr Redknapp in which the players attitude has been clearly blamed, and it is not surprising really from a neutrals point of view, as the player clearly thinks he is a lot better than he is. While he has been on a season long long to Premiership side Fulham FC he has only started 3 times and scored one goal which is very poor for a player who feels he could easily fit into any top English side in the Premiership.

Leicester City News

I can’t see a much changed side that played Manchester City in the Capital One Cup this week even though they lost. The Foxes played extremely well but were sadly undone by some clinical Manchester City play. Leicester City did however respond well after going three goals down before the hour mark as they grabbed their own goal in the 77th minute. Sadly however it was too late in the game to make a comeback against a side who are clearly in great form right now being the only club to have beaten Bayern Munich since the Germans played against local rivals Borussia Dortmund in the Super Cup at the beginning of the season.

QPR v Leicester City Head to Head Statistics

In the 34 games these two have played we see Queens Park Rangers come out as the better side who have recorded more wins. With 16 wins to Leicester City’s 11 it shows that QPR are the team with the advantage here. They haven’t met since 2011 due to the London club being in the Premiership last year.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 34 games played we have seen a total of 99 goals scored between these two sides which will give us an average of 2.9 goals per game which should tell us a few goals will hopefully be scored on Saturday. Leicester City have shown in the past they can score away from home at QPR’s ground so I am sure that may play some part in today’s predictions.

QPR v Leicester City Recent Form (Left to Right)

Leicester City: L D L L W

With Queens Park Rangers two points clear at the top of the league it is clear to see their form on paper is by far the better. But even with Leicester City in very bad form with 3 loses and a draw they still are third place in the league. Will they continue to be there after this weekend I do not know, but even if they do lose they can only drop to 4th which is not a huge worry for the Midland club.

QPR v Leicester City Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Queens Park Rangers can potentially increase their gap at the top of the Championships come Saturday Lunchtime as a win at home to third placed Leicester City will be a very important mission for manager Harry Redknapp. With Burnley traveling to Leeds United for a tough game we could see the London club increase their 2 point gap to 3 or 5. A loss however will see them drop to 2nd if Burnley do manage a win away to Leeds which will not make Redknapp at all happy. Another potential outcome could see Leicester City win and Burnley lose which will still see Harry’s side remain top on goal difference.

So lets talk about predictions, in the past we have seen Leicester City score on more than a few occasions away from home at Loftus Road so we could add that in our first prediction seeing both teams score and for Queens Park Rangers to win the game. Which could prove to be a money maker if we are indeed in luck. The other I am going for is a Team Special right now with QPR to win and Over 2.5 goals to be scored in the match, which is something seen very often between these two.
