Manchester City v Liverpool Preview, Premiership, Saturday 21st November 2015

Manchester City head into this game having had a great start to their new season which has them leading the way at the top of the premiership league table. The hosts have picked up eight victories from their twelve league matches played and have lost just twice add to that a fine recent record of having remained unbeaten in their last nine games in all competitions, everything does seem to point towards a home win in this one.

Liverpool head into the game having had a tough time of it from their opening twelve matches played. The visitors have recorded just four victories and although things are starting to look a bit better since the appointment of new manager Jurgen Klopp, their 2-1 defeat at home against Crystal Palace last time out does just go to show that the side has a long way to go yet if they hope to achieve a top four finish this season.

Manchester City Team News:

The hosts will be without Samir Nasri for this game as he recovers from an injury related problems expected to keep him on the sidelines until at least January. Also missing from the starting lineup will be Wilfried Bony who is suffering from a hamstring pull and he is likely to be replaced by Sergio Aguero who has now fully recovered from his injury that has kept him out recently.

Joining Aguero on the pitch could also be David Silva and Pablo Zabaleta as along with Aguero both players resumed training midweek. Vincent Kompany has a slight calf strain and will undertake a late fitness test, but he is expected to lineup in the heart of defence come Saturday evening.

Liverpool Team News:

The visitors will be without the services of both Jordan Henderson and Mamdou Sakho as they continue to recover from respective injury issues. Daniel Sturridge has now returned back to full training with the squad and could find himself thrust straight into the starting lineup alongside Benteke if his manager decides he is fit enough.

Manchester City v Liverpool Head to Head Statistics:

Saturday’s evening game from the Etihad Stadium will become the 154th meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Manchester City have won 41 times overall, with 28 of those having come with home advantage where as Livepool have won 72 times overall, 28 of those having came away from home.

The previous 5 meetings below in our head to head statistics table show Liverpool having a slight advantage over recent season’s having won 3 times compared to Manchester City having won just the 2.

01/03/15 PRL Liverpool – Manchester City 2 : 1
25/08/14 PRL Manchester City – Liverpool 3 : 1
31/07/14 ICC Manchester City – Liverpool 2 : 2 (P)
13/04/14 PRL Liverpool – Manchester City 3 : 2
26/12/13 PRL Manchester City – Liverpool 2 : 1

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

472 Goals have been scored in the previous 153 meetings between the two clubs and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 3.09.

224 of those Goals have came in the 77 previous matches played at the Etihad Stadium and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic of 2.91.

Based on both sets of data shown above, it does seem to indicate that this game should see a minimum of between two or three goals scored and betting markets like Total Match Goals 2 or 3 and Over 2.5 Goals look the mostly likely outcomes on the goals market betting.

Manchester City v Liverpool Match Betting Odds Market

Manchester City ware in good form at the moment and with some key players back in the starting lineup they do warrant the online bookmakers having them priced up as the clear favourites at odds of 7/10 with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers.

The Draw has happened once in the last five meetings and there is very little between the two sides on the recent form statistics, so backing the draw at a current best price of 16/5 with Betfred – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets For New Customers could be a clever cover bet in this game.

Liverpool are looking much better under new manager Jurgen Klopp and with Daniel Sturridge possibly fit enough to play this game I can see Liverpool having more than a good chance of winning this game and they look the value play here at current best odds of 19/4 with BetVictor – Receive £50 Free Bets For New Customers.

Manchester City v Liverpool Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

A very interesting game this one and in my opinion one that does have a strong chance of going either way as there is very little to seperate these two teams.

Manchester City do have home advantage and are unbeaten in all competitions from their last nine games played, so many will expect the hosts to just about do enough to protect their position at the top of the premiership table by winning this game.

News that Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge could feature in this one having now fully recovered from his recent injury problem is a major boost and I do like the chances of Liverpool being able to cause a bit of an upset on Saturday evening.

Benteke and Sturridge leading the attack up front for the visitors will certainly have the Manchester City defence on the back foot for the majority of this game and if Jurgen Klopp’s side can produce a similar kind of performance like they did when hammering Chelsea 3-1 recently then Liverpool have more than a fair chance of winning this.

However, the safest option does seem to be the goals market as although this fixture has not produced many goals over recent season’s, I can see both teams getting on the score-sheet in this one and as such that will be my Banker Free Tip.

My First Goalscorer Tip will be Liverpool striker Christian Benteke to score the first goal of the game as even if Daniel Sturridge doesn’t start this game, I can definitely see Benteke getting more than a few chances to put Manchester City keeper Joe Hart to the test.
