Manchester City v Sevilla Preview, Champions League, Wednesday 21st October 2015.

Things are going well for Manchester City this season even though they did have a couple of weeks with a few hiccups having lost to Juventus in the Champions League, as well as West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspurs in the Premiership. Since then though they did manage to fight back and beat Borussia M’gladbach having gone 1 – 0 down, it took a Martin Demichelis equalizer ten minutes later and then a late winner by Sergio Aguero from the penalty spot. The win must of reinstalled some lost confidence in City, who then went on to humiliate Newcastle United 6 – 1 and Premiership newcomers Bournemouth with a 5 – 1 romp.

Sevilla did incredibly well last season to go on and win the Europa League, and even managed to finish in the Europa qualification position in the La Liga League. Yet due to the win they did automatically qualify for the Champions League and have so far done reasonably well with a win against Borussia M’gladbach and an expected loss to Italian Champions Juventus away from home. In the La Liga this year though we have seen Sevilla performing with mixed results as they currently find themselves as low as thirteenth with only nine points from a maximum of eight games. This Wednesdays game in England against Manchester City will certainly be tough, and the bookmakers are doubting the Spanish’s ability to get one over the Manchester club.

Manchester City Team News:

Bad news for Manchester City fans, as club favourite Sergio Aguero is out for a couple of months due to an ankle injury. Fabian Delph is still missing with his hamstring injury while Spanish midfielder David Silva is absent due to his ankle injury picked up on international duty. Samir Nasri is a doubt after picking up a hamstring strain in the win over Bournemouth.

Sevilla Team News:

Sevilla will be without Sergio Escudero and Gael Kakuta for Wednesday nights game, with both of them having a muscular injury of sorts. We also see Daniel Carrico sidelined due to his hamstring, while Fernando Llorente and Luismi are doubts after missing out against Eibar.

Manchester City v Sevilla Head to Head Statistics:

This is surprisingly the first time these two sides have met as I cannot seem to find any information regarding previous head to head encounters between the two. So Wednesday night will certainly be an exciting event as the home side Manchester City will no doubt be the solid favourites to win. Especially with the last two games played seeing City smash in eleven goals in total.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

As there have been no previous games played between the two clubs we wont have any goals per game average. With Manchester City scoring freely in the last couple of matches I can imagine Sevilla also being on the end of a beating if they are not careful, and as a neutral I am sure you can imagine the game should bring some great excitement come Wednesday night.

Sevilla haven’t been in the best of form this season with results being rather hit and miss in all competitions. Manchester City however may of had a couple of weeks were things looked dodgy, but since then have been in great form scoring eleven goals in their last two games played. Manchester City are no doubts the favourites for the win come Wednesday and I can imagine will also be when they face Sevilla away from home.

The Draw is a result I am doubting we will see on Wednesday night as I just cannot see Manchester City losing this game against the Europa League winners. Sevilla have won and lost so far in the Champions League which is the same as Wednesdays opponents Manchester City. So if Sevilla were to pull off the win against City away from home then it could leave them in a positive position to qualify from the group. Manchester City v Sevilla Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Champions League action this Wednesday evening can be seen live on BT Sports 2 and also in High Definition. It features current Premiership leaders Manchester City at home as they welcome Europa League winners Sevilla to The Etihad Stadium. There is no doubt that Manchester City are the favourites to win the game come Wednesday, especially after recent results both in the Champions League and Premiership see’s the club return to winning form. In the last two league games we have seen Manchester City bang in eleven goals, with Newcastle United and Bournemouth feeling the brunt of them.

Sevilla did exceptionally well last season when winning the Europa League. They knocked out some truly great European teams and dug in their heals to cross over the line and lift the trophy. They also managed to finish strongly in the Spanish La Liga, again qualifying for the Europa League with a fifth place finish. But due to their win in the Europa League, they did automatically qualify for the Champions League competition and have so far done reasonably well. Granted they did lose to the Italian Champions Juventus, but so did their Wednesday night opponents City. They did previously beat the German side Borussia M’gladbach with ease, unlike City who struggled to beat them away from home.

Predictions for Wednesday nights game will no doubt favour that of Manchester City, as in all seriousness I just cannot see Sevilla doing much against this inform City side. So for the first I am planning to go for Manchester City to win the game and also concede zero goals as Vincent Kompany potentially returns to the current lineup. With that as my banker I am then going to go for Raheem Sterling to score first in the match, which is currently giving us some nice odds from the leading bookmakers.
