Manchester City v West Brom Preview, Premiership, Saturday 21st March 2015

Manchester City head into this game pretty much knowing that they have thrown away any real chance of securing the Premiership title having lost against Burnley away from home last week 1-0. The players and fans faces told their own story after the game had finished and it really wasn’t good enough from a side that boasts numerous world class individuals.

West Brom managed an important 1-0 victory at home against Stoke City in their game last weekend, that result moved them up into 12th position of the league table and although any chance of playing in Europe is beyond the team now, they will still want to finish on a high note and after seeing Burnley put the their hosts to the sword last weekend, confidence will no doubt be high of securing a similar result.

Manchester City Team News:

The hosts have no fresh injuries or suspensions for this game and as such expect manager Manuel Pellegrini to name a similar side to the one that lost 1-0 away against Barcelona in the Champions League midweek.

Joe Hart was in fantastic goalkeeping form during that game and but for the England number one, the score could of been a lot more to Barcelona. Sergio Aguero will lead the attack up front alongside either Jovetic, Eden Dzeko or Wilfried Bony. Ya Ya Toure will sit in just behind the strikers with Jesus Navas and David Silva providing the width.

West Brom Team News:

Ben Foster is still out for at least another month as he recovers from a knee problem and both Chris Brunt and Claudio Yacob are suspended. Saido Berahino and Brown Ideye are both still carring knocks but look likely to feature along with the return of Victor Anichebe who has now fully recovered from a groin strain.

Manchester City v West Brom Head to Head Statistics:

Saturday’s lunch time fixture from the Etihad Stadium will become the 121st meeting between the two clubs over the years. Manchester City have won 53 times, 35 of those having came at home whilst West Brom have managed 46 victories, with 16 having came at the Etihad Stadium.

Our head to head statistics table below shows the most recent five matches played between the two clubs home and away and as we can see it has been a complete whitewash for Manchester City who have won all five games and scored three goals in each of their last three victories.

399 Goals have been scored in the previous 120 games played between the two clubs overall and this provides us with an average goals per game statistic of 3.32.

217 of those Goals have been scored in the previous 59 matches played at the Etihad Stadium between both clubs and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic for this game of 3.67.

Looking at both sets of data above, it would seem to indicate that we should see a minimum of 3 goals scored in this game on Saturday afternoon.

Manchester City v West Brom Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Manchester City suffered a huge setback in their title bid this season when losing away from home against Burnley 1-0 last weekend, but I fully expect them to respond this weekend with a very comfortable victory against a side that has not managed to even secure a draw in their last six meetings.

West Brom did enjoy a very good 1-0 win at home against Stoke City last weekend but it really does look an almost impossible task to see them following that victory up with another 3pts.

However, they do have a certain Saido Berahino leading their attack up front and he is definitely a player that has the ability to unlock the Manchester City defence and with West Brom having managed to score goals in each of their last three meetings against Manchester City, the sensible option does seem to be both teams to score here which will be my Banker prediction for the game.
