Liverpool v Swansea City Preview, Premiership, Saturday 21st January 2017.

It’s back to Premier League action this weekend for Liverpool and they will need to step up a massive step to get back to some good form. In the last five games they have only played two Premiership games, with two FA Cup fixtures and a League Cup loss to Southampton. Sunderland and Manchester United won a point each at the expensive of Liverpool and then Plymouth Argyle also took them to a replay at home which Liverpool won 1 – 0.

The next four games see Liverpool at home against Swansea City and Chelsea in the league, with an away fixture also against Hull City. They also have the 2nd leg at home against Southampton in the League Cup, which they currently trail one goal to nil. They also have a forth round draw against Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers to consider, and will need to step up against them if they wish to progress in the competition.

Welsh side Swansea City are in serious trouble in the Premiership right now with them firmly routed to the bottom of the table with just fifteen points. With nineteen games left to play could we eventually see the side slide back down into the Championships after spending a respectable time in the country’s top division.

A win against Liverpool at Anfield is highly unlikely with them also set to face Manchester City and Chelsea on their travels. Home fixtures against Southampton and champions Leicester City will also prove difficult so I can’t help but wonder where Swansea City where get their points from in the next five league games. A loss in each of these games will surely make their survival fight close to impossible.

Liverpool Team News:

Although Liverpool’s current form is very poor they are still unbeaten at Anfield in twenty six games. Liverpool should see Nathaniel Clyne and the club captain Jordan Henderson return with both attending training this Friday. With plenty of first team players being rested in the FA Cup replay, they should all return to face the struggling Swansea City.

Swansea City Team News:

Swansea City have recently signed Tom Carroll and Martin Olsson and could both feature on Saturday. Another new signing Luciano Narsingh cannot play as the winger is recovering from a calf strain. Neil Taylor is out of action with a fractured cheekbone while Leon Britton is also missing due to an injury of some sort.

Liverpool v Swansea City Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five head to head fixtures played against each other it is mostly in Liverpool’s favour with four wins. Yet Swansea City have enjoyed one win which was at the end of last seasons campaign in Wales. In total they have met on seventeen occasions with Swansea City winning four and losing nine, while also drawing four games in total.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the seventeen games played there has been a total of fifty goals scored. This is going to give us a goals per game average of 2.9 which we can see above has happened three times out of the last five played. Liverpool could easily score more than three this Saturday especially with them being at Anfield, so I feel the below option is more than realistic.

Liverpool v Swansea City Recent Form All Competitions (Left to Right)

Liverpool: W D L D D
Swansea City: L L W L L

Neither of the two clubs are in good form when looking at the last five games played in all competitions, yet we need to consider where both are in the league table right now. With Swansea City bottom it is clearly Liverpool who are the better team in form with them currently in third with the same points as Spurs who occupy second place.

Liverpool v Swansea City Match Betting Odds Market

Liverpool are the bookmakers clear and easy favourites to win this game at Anfield on Saturday and I will put money on it a hat-full of goals will be scored. The best odds currently for the home win can be seen coming in here @ 2/9 with Betvictor – Bet £10 Get £60 when Registering a New Account

The Draw is the best Swansea City could hope for and if Sunderland lose their game could take them off the bottom at their expense. The bookmakers however see it as unlikely and so do I, with the best odds on them winning a point seen here @ 6/1 with Betvictor – Bet £10 Get £60 when Registering a New Account

Swansea City to win on Saturday is a very unlikely result and I for one would never consider when thinking about placing a bet. With the form they are in I just cannot see them grabbing all three points at Anfield. However, the best odds on them actually achieving such can be seen here @ 14/1 with Betfred – Bet £10 Get £30 Free Bets when Registering a New Account

Liverpool v Swansea City Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premiership action this Saturday will be at Anfield Stadium with Liverpool playing hosts to Swansea City. The game can be viewed in high definition on BT Sports 1 and does of course kick off at lunchtime. Liverpool are the clear favourites to win this encounter even though their current form may suggest otherwise. Only one win in their last five games played, which was against Plymouth Argyle in an FA Cup replay.

Swansea City in my point of view have little to no chance of earning a point at Anfield this Saturday, regardless of their opponents current run of bad form. Liverpool continue to build on their unbeaten home record and the Welsh side I cannot see tarnishing that come tomorrow lunchtime. Could Swansea City actually go down at the end of this season after such a good run of years in the Premier League?

Liverpool did lose to Swansea City at the end of last season yet this was at home in Wales. The last time they actually won at Anfield was way back in 2012 and that was a lucky 1 – 0 victory. They have however managed a few draws with the last seen in 2013, and if they do manage a result this weekend I can only imagine it being a share of the spoils.

My predictions for this game are of course in favour of Liverpool even though their current form is bad. I do also see this as that game that see’s them return to form with plenty of goals scored in their favour. For that I am going to take Liverpool to win and for there to be three or more goals scored on the day. The next I am going for is a correct scoreline guess on Liverpool to win 3 – 1.
