Arsenal v Bayern Munich Preview, Champions League, Group F, Tuesday 20th October 2015

Arsenal have so far lost both of their opening games of the group, which now makes this match on Tuesday night a must win game if they are to stand any chances of progressing through to the knock-out stages of the tournament and the players will have renewed confidence head into this game having comfortably beaten Watford 3-0 away from home over the weekend.

Bayern Munich currently lead the way at the top of the group having won both of their opening two matches, but they did look a bit lackluster over the weekend when only managing to beat Werder Bremen 1-0 and could find Arsenal a real test come Tuesday night in north London.

Arsenal Team News:

Gabriel is Arsenal’s major injury doubt after missing Saturday’s victory over Watford, however Wenger expects the defender to be ready to compete with Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny for a place in Tuesday’s lineup.

Should Gabriel return Wenger’s only injury absences will be long-term cases Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Danny Welbeck. Olivier Giroud will also return to the squad after serving a one-match ban for his red card against Dinamo Zagreb.

Arsenal possible XI: Cech, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Coquelin, Cazorla, Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez, Walcott

Bayern Munich Team News:

There is some good news for Arsenal with the absence of star wingers Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben from Bayern’s travelling squad. The latter had been confident of recovering in time for a return to London but the 31-year-old was not risked by Guardiola.

Mario Gotze, Holger Badstuber and Medhi Benatia are also unavailable but highly-rated young winger Kingsley Coman has returned to the first team.

Bayern possible XI: Neuer, Martinez, Boateng, Alaba, Lahm, Alonso, Thiago, Vidal, Costa, Muller, Lewandowski

Our head to head statistics table below shows the last five meetings between the two clubs over recent years and as we can see it has been very close with both clubs having won two games each and the remaining game having finished all square.

20 Goals have been scored in the previous 8 matches played between the two clubs over the years, which provides us with an average goals per game statistic of exactly 2.50.

11 of those Goals have been scored in the previous 4 matches played between the two clubs at the Emirates Stadium which generates us an average goals per game statistic of 2.75.

Both sets of statistics seem to suggest that this game should see at least 2 or 3 Goals scored on Tuesday night and betting markets such as Both Teams to Score, Total Match Goals 2 or 3 all look good options for this match.

Arsenal v Bayern Munich Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Bayern Munich are probably going to lineup for this game with a very similar lineup to the one they started with over the weekend against Werder Bremen which they won 1-0 and for me that provides Arsenal with an excellent chance for them to get their first points on the board and put themselves right back in contention of making the knock out stages.

Arjen Robben, Gotze and Ribery will all be missing this one and with Arsenal almost at full strength I do expect Arsene Wengers side to be the ones celebrating come the final whistle.

As such my Banker Free Tip is going to be for Arsenal to Win this match at what I believe is excellent odds and definitely overpriced considering they are up against a weakened Bayern Munich side.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip will be Theo Walcott as with his lightening pace he looks certain to get in behind the Bayern defence at least a few times during this game and that could be enough to see Arsenal take the lead.
