AFC Bournemouth v Everton Preview, FA Cup 5th Round, Saturday 20th February 2016.

It’s not very often we see a side go from rags to riches but what a story with AFC Bournemouth who one moment find themselves facing administration, and then next winning promotion to the Premier League and in the FA Cup 5th round. They were one of the clubs favored to go back down into the Championships come the end of the season, yet have done well so far and seen themselves beating some of the leagues top teams.

They are however only four points above Newcastle United who occupy eighteenth position, a relegation spot, and need to start winning points if they wish to stay in this division come the end of the season. The next four games after their FA Cup clash to Everton does see them potentially winning a few valuable points although Watford away and then Southampton at home a potential hiccup. They then travel to strugglers Newcastle United and after host another struggling side Swansea City who Bournemouth really do need to take points off if they want to earn survival.

Everton as I’ve reported before really are a disappointment this season and don’t look like the team David Moyes built when they were up there challenging for a top six finish. Last weekend see them lose at home to West Bromwich Albion, a result which would of seriously hurt the club and players confidence. It’s a game Everton should really be winning and although I can’t see them facing a relegation scrap they are still only eleven points in the clear.

With Romelo Lukaku the leagues third top scorer you can only question why Everton are so low in the league, and with one of the countries top talents in defense is John Stones really as good as clubs seem to think? The answer is yes to that statement and it can only be put down to a teams performance at the end of the day but even I can’t see the youngster staying beyond this summer with a big move to Chelsea and Manchester City heavily rumored.

AFC Bournemouth Team News:

AFC Bournemouth are missing a few players due to injury with Callum Wilson out due to a knee issue, while Max Gradel and Tyrone Mings continue their long term injury recovery.

Everton Team News:

Its good to hear that defender John Stones has been declared fit for this game after the youngster has recovered from his hamstring injury. Midfielder Muhamed Besic is unavailble due to a hamstring pull while new signing Oumar Niasse will have to wait his go as he recovers from a bad wrist.

AFC Bournemouth v Everton Head to Head Statistics:

Although these two clubs have featured against each other on four occasions it is only the one below that I can find information on. It is of course the exciting spectacle seen back in November when Everton worked hard to fight back and take the lead of the game, only to then throw it away right at the end when Bournemouth earned a deserved draw.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

With only information found on the two clubs most recent match you can’t really take the goals per game average of six as a solid statistic, as I certainly wouldn’t predict a scoreline like the above anytime soon. I would however always be willing to back the below option for Saturdays fixture in the south of England.

AFC Bournemouth: L L W W D

Everton: L W W W L

Both teams are not exactly in top form right now and both come into this game on the back of a loss or two, and although Everton should be the likely winners you couldn’t be wanting to predict it seeing as though they lost to West Bromwich Albion at home last week, and also with them being away from home.

AFC Bournemouth v Everton Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

FA Cup 5th Round Action on Saturday can be seen live on BBC One and in High Definition with AFC Bournemouth playing hosts to Everton. The two clubs are not in the best of form right now with Bournemouth fighting to stay in the Premier League while Everton need to keep producing points to make sure they themselves don’t drop down and join the relegation battle.

AFC Bournemouth are at home and are a team who do have the potential to beat any side in the Premier League, thus already what we have witnessed against the likes of Champions Chelsea and then Manchester United a game later. That said however they have struggled lately only producing a win here and there which has managed to keep them at a little distance from the drop zone.

Everton as I have said do seem to always be hit and miss this season and I guess in the league it is more where I personally come to expect them to be. Yet under David Moyes they were a tougher side to beat and we often see them a fair few places higher and often challenging in the top six. It’s shocking as well as Romelu Lukaku is the leagues third top scorer and it shows how much the club have missed Stones and Leighton Baines.

Everton are favourites to win this game even though they are away from home, yet I personally feel they could struggle unless their performances start to improve, unlike what we witnessed last weekend against West Bromwich Albion when they lost 1 – 0 at home. It must of been a real kick in the teeth especially at home and maybe they may wish to bounce back at the expense of Bournemouth?

My prediction for this game does tend to favour that of a draw as I personally see both clubs coming up short come the end of the game. That said it is the FA Cup and we all know any and every team always seem to treat this magic competition as a cup final whatever round it may be. My next prediction will be for AFC Bournemouth to defy the bookmakers and come out on top and see themselves in a dream position being in the next round and closer to that magical final at Wembley. For that I am going to go for a correct score of 2 – 1 to Bournemouth.
