Chelsea v Arsenal Preview, Premiership, Saturday 19th September 2015.

A much needed win for Jose Mourinho and his faltering Chelsea side during the week in the Champions League group stages. Granted their opposition wasn’t the best of quality but a win is a win and it does see the likes of Diego Costa and Fabregas start scoring again. Even though Chelsea won at home against Maccabi Tel-Aviv this Saturdays opponents Arsenal are a completely different kettle of fish, with the Gunners enjoying a reasonable start with ten points from fifteen. Chelsea are on the opposite side of the table in seventeenth with just four points in five Premiership games. Things will seriously need to improve as you never know how patient Roman Abramovich will be with Mourinho, proving that he has sacked the ‘Special One’ before in the distant past.

Same old same from Arsenal fans, calling for Arsene Wenger’s head to roll after losing the first game of the season 2 – 0 to West Ham United, and now he’s the best manager since sliced bread having now won three and drawing the other against Liverpool. However the London club did play terrible midweek in their Champions League fixture against Dinamo Zagreb, it also didn’t help when they went down to ten men after Frenchman Olivier Giroud managed to pick up two yellow and a red just before the half time whistle. They did pull one back with ten minutes remaining, but sadly for Arsenal the home side already did the needed damage and came away 2 – 1 victors. Arsene Wenger has already beaten Jose Mourinho this season in the Community Shield, and I can imagine him being confident against this out of form Chelsea side.

Chelsea Team News:

Chelsea have a few major first team players out currently, with the more damaging one being that of Belgian international goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois with a knee issue. Also out is new signing Pedro who has a thigh muscle strain which is a shame after his impressive debut against West Bromwich Albion. Also reported to be out is Brazilian pair Willian who had to go off midweek when he pulled up with his hamstring, then we have Oscar who has a knock yet could possibly feature.

Arsenal Team News:

The main injury news coming out of Arsenal is that England midfielder Jack Wilshere’s issue is far worse than what we were told/lead to believe. With fans angry at manager Arsene Wenger for apparently lying about his injury time duration. Thomas Rosicky is still out with his knee problem while Danny Welbeck also joins him with the same injury.

Chelsea v Arsenal Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five head to head encounters Chelsea just pip the lead with an extra win over their opponents. We have also seen two recent draws both of which ended goalless. In total we have 163 games recorded between the two with Arsenal coming out on top with 62 wins and 53 loses, leaving 48 games ending as draws of some kind.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 163 games played between these two Premier League giants we have seen an impressive total of 438 goals scored. This is going to give us an average of 2.7 goals per game which when looking at the above table feels completely false. Lets roll with it however, especially with Chelsea’s poor defence this season.

What can we say about Chelsea that is positive? Not a lot really with the way they have played, even with their recent win against the poor Maccabi Tel-Aviv. Arsenal however may of experience a shock loss to West Ham, but have since then picked up in the Premier League. Although did then go and lose in the Champions League.

Chelsea v Arsenal Match Betting Odds Market

Chelsea may well be favourites for Saturdays clash of the big guns, yet they to live up to the bookmakers predictions they will seriously need to improve even from their midweek game. Best odds of them to actually win a game can be seen here @ 6/4 with Coral – Bet £5 & Get £20 Free when Registering a New Account.

The Draw is a result more likely to happen especially if Chelsea do play just below their normal standards, but could Arsenal capitalize on their opponents bad form? Leicester City v Aston Villa Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Once again we’re back to Premiership action this Saturday after the excitement all witnessed midweek in the Champions League. Arsenal travel across the capital to the Bridge to face Chelsea who did manage to win on Wednesday, much unlike Arsenal who suffered a 2 – 1 loss. This game can be seen live on BT Sports 1 High Definition and hits your screens Saturday lunchtime.

Both teams are a serious hit and miss this season, although Arsenal have been the better side with just two loses so far. Where as opponents Chelsea have lost on four occasions including the 1 – 0 loss to Arsenal in the Community Shield. Chelsea have been set as favourites this Saturday lunchtime which coms as no surprise, as surely soon they will kick start their title defence sometime soon? Arsenal were tipped to be challengers this season but the opening loss to West Ham United soon put a few pundits in their place. However it is early days, so could we possible see Arsenal challenge this season?

My predictions for this massive Premiership fixture does tend to favour the draw between the two sides, even though both recent draws were goalless I am feeling there is at least a couple of goals in the game so will place bets on a 1 – 1 result. The next I am going for is that of Chelsea actually stepping up to the plate and producing something we only saw last season when they dominated the league. So for that lets go for both teams to score and Chelsea to win on the day.
