Manchester City v West Ham United Preview, Premiership, Sunday 19th April 2015

It has been an extremely poor season for all Manchester City fans and their form at the moment is quite embarrassing to look at considering the amount of money that the club has spent on players and it looks likely now that manager Manuel Pellegrini will be replaced during the summer no matter if his side wins all the rest of their games.

West Ham United are having one of their best ever season’s in the Premiership and manager Sam Allardyce has done a very good job in bringing some exciting players to the club. Summer signing’s of Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho have certainly made an impact and although the ‘Hammers’ have not been in the best of form recently, they will have seen their hosts having lost three out of their last four matches and be confident that they can win this game.

Manchester City Team News:

aptain Vincent Kompany and striker Wilfried Bony are both unavailable for the hosts as they receive treatment for respective injury related problems and join a growing injury list which consists of James Milner, Gael Clichy and Stevan Jovetic. Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko look likely to lead the attack up front.

West Ham United Team News:

The visitors also have some injury concerns with Diafra Sakho, Andy Carroll and James Tomkins all unavailable due to respective injury problems. Enner Valencia is available though having recovered from a minor knock in last weeks game against Stoke City and is likely to lead the attack up front.

Manchester City v West Ham United Head to Head Statistics:

Sunday’s lunch time match from the Etihad Stadium will become the 91st meeting between the two clubs over the years. Manchester City have won 43 times, 31 of those having came at home whilst West Ham United have managed 32 victories, with just 9 having came at the Etihad Stadium.

Our head to head statistics table below shows the most recent five matches played between the two clubs home and away and as we can see it has been Manchester City who have dominated proceedings have won 4 times, compared to West Ham United who have won just the 1.

276 Goals have been scored in the previous 90 games played between the two clubs overall and this provides us with an average goals per game statistic of 3.06.

154 of those Goals have been scored in the previous 45 matches played at the Etihad Stadium between both clubs and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic for this game of 3.42.

Looking at both sets of data above, it would seem to strongly indicate that we should see a minimum of at least 3 goals scored in this game on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester City v West Ham United Match Betting Odds Market

Manchester City are the clear odds on favourites to win this game and are currently a best price of just 2/7 with Betfred – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets for New Customers.

The Draw has only happened once in the last five meetings between the two clubs so does look an unlikely outcome, however for those that believe this game could finish all square, they can enjoy generous odds of 11/2 with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers.

West Ham United did manage to beat Manchester City in the reverse fixture back in October last year and will take plenty of confidence from that, especially with the poor run of form their hosts are in and the visitors do look good value at their current best odds of 11/1 with BetVictor – Receive £25 Free Bets for New Customers.

Manchester City v West Ham United Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

I would expect Manchester City to bounce back to winning ways after last weekend’s poor performance against arch rivals Manchester United, but players like Ya Ya Toure and David Silva need to do a lot more than they did during that game if they are to avoid another defeat.

West Ham United won the reverse fixture back in October when these two teams met and will obviously be confident about winning again what with City having not been in the best of form recently.

However, with Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll both missing due to injury, I don’t think West Ham will be strong enough up front to score more than one goal during this game and with City looking to prove a point and needing maximum points to stay in the hunt for a top 3 finish, it does seem that West Ham United will be returning home with nothing.

My Banker prediction for this game is going to be for Manchester City Half Time/Full Time as I do expect the hosts to get off to a good start and score early on in this game.

Sergio Aguero will see this game as real chance to take a clear lead as the top goalscorer this season what with Diego Costa unavailable for Chelsea due to injury and with 19 goals so far this campaign he does look a good bet to get a couple in this game and as such he is going to be my Saver selection for this game.
