Everton v Arsenal Preview, Premiership, Saturday 19th March 2016.

Everton ended last week on a big high after beating Chelsea 2 – 0 in the FA Cup quarter final and now face either West Ham United or Manchester United at Wembley in the semi finals. If it is the East Londoners then they did lose at home 3 – 2 the week before in which they will not want a repeat of especially having taken the lead 2 – 0 before half time. The turning point will of no doubt being down to ten men with Kevin Mirallas being sent off after two yellow cards.

Although Everton are doing extremely well in the FA Cup it is their Premiership form that is less desirable with them currently in twelfth position and struggling for wins. The club have some very tough games coming up including this Arsenal fixture as they next have to travel to Manchester United which can as we know be hit and miss. Watford, Southampton then Liverpool come after which will also be tough games especially the local derby against bitter rivals Liverpool.

Arsenal have seriously started to bottle it come the end of the season with their form hitting an all time low. With just the one win against Hull City in the FA Cup in the last five games played, they don’t have much to shout and scream about currently. That win against Hull didn’t come to much anyway as they then were knocked out against Watford five days later even though they had the home advantage! They then traveled to Spain to face Barcelona in the Champions League, in which were made to look like amateurs with a 5 – 1 aggregate loss.

Arsenal’s only major tough game in the next five fixtures is that against West Ham United away from home and if they do manage to loss that they could hand over their league position as The Hammers look to chase European football. They do face Watford after this Everton game and surely they cannot lose at The Emirates again to the Premiership newcomers? Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion at home should be routine wins for Arsenal yet the way they are playing currently I guess you never know until the day.

Everton Team News:

Everton only have a few injury issues right now with Tony Hibbert out long term with a serious knee issue. While Tyias Browning also has a knee injury he wont be available for some time having recently had surgery in February. Darron Gibson is the only other injured Everton player although he could be made available if he passes a late fitness check. Gareth Barry and Kevin Mirallas will both miss out this game due to suspensions.

Arsenal Team News:

Arsenal are still without a number of players due to injuries right now and are starting to miss the play-maker Santiago Cazorla due to his knee. Petr Cech missed out on the clubs Champions League exit to Barcelona as he recovers from a calf strain. Flamini went off injured against Barcelona and will likely miss this visit to Eveton while Carl Jenkinson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain miss out due to their knee’s. Aaron Ramsey is still out with a thigh strain while Tomas Rosiky and Jack Wilshere continue to be unavailable.

Everton v Arsenal Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five games played out against each other it is the away side Arsenal who come out on top with three wins, a loss and a draw all within the last two years. The last time the two met at Goodison Park we did see a draw, and the last time Arsenal winning away from home came back in 2012 with a 1 – 0 result. In total the two have met on 193 occasions where Arsenal have an incredible record of 96 wins and 55 loses, leaving the other 42 games played out ending as draws.

Arsenal have seriously slipped up lately and in major danger of throwing away any chance of winning the title this season with recent results. They have only won the once in their last five which was against Hull City in the FA Cup, in which they are now out of due to losing at home against Watford. Everton are not performing well in the league either, yet in the FA Cup they are doing incredible having recently beaten Champions Chelsea.

Everton v Arsenal Match Betting Odds Market

Everton although Everton come into this game on the back of an epic win against Chelsea they are still not the favourites to beat Arsenal on Saturday. That said or are Arsenal with both clubs having the same odds for the win. The Draw is a common result seen between the pair especially when they meet at Everton’s ground. The last time they played at Goodison Park it was 2 – 2 and was a great match to watch. Arsenal are in serious need to get back to winning ways right now with the players looking like they have bottled it once again so close to the end of the season. A win on Saturday could restore some faith although the bookmakers are not fully convinced they can do it. Everton v Arsenal Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premiership action this Saturday comes via BT Sports 1 and can be viewed live in High Definition. It will be played out at Everton’s ground, Goodison Park as they welcome fourth placed Arsenal. Everton have nothing to fight for in regards to the league as although they are in twelfth I cant see them getting relegated this season. With ten games left to play they could climb up the league table considerably although will need to win a majority of their games.

Everton are however still in with a chance to win a trophy this season having recently knocked out Champions Chelsea in the quarter finals of the FA Cup. They are now set to face either Manchester United or West Ham United in the semi finals. If they do manage to beat either of the two at home at the end of April then the club could go on and win it as Watford and Crystal Palace would certainly be easier than the draw that got in this round.

Arsenal on the other hand have everything to play for in the league and this game and every remaining game till the end of the season will be a must win if they wish to catch both Tottenham Hotspurs and leaders Leicester City. Arsenal do have a game in hand currently but with them being eleven points behind Leicester City and six points behind bitter rivals Spurs I am sure the clubs fans are starting to lose what little hope they did have left.

The club have suffered their fair share of injuries all season but then so have many of the other top sides including that of Manchester United who themselves are fighting to get into that top four position. Arsenal have an easier run in to the end of the season than most sides with only West Ham United and Manchester City the potential danger sides. Although that said some of the clubs they do have are fighting for survival to stay in this league, which can sometimes prove more difficult than easy.

My predictions for this game is leaning more towards a draw on the day although if only Everton could bring their FA Cup form into the league we could even see them win it. That said I am not going to back Everton to win and instead will go for a score draw as my banker bet. The other I am going for is going to be a correct score prediction and may even go for a goalless game or even a 1 – 1. I’ll put down what I feel will happen but feel free to select either of the two if you fancy it!
