Fulham v Tottenham Hotspur Preview, FA Cup 5th Round, Sunday 19th February 2017.

Tottenham Hotspurs come into this game on the back of two straight defeats which is very unlike them considering their form in the first half of the season. Having lost to the out of form Liverpool they then went and lost their away tie to lowly side Gent of Belgium. Don’t get me wrong I do have faith that Spurs will turn it around in the home leg at Wembley, even though the clubs European form is incredibly poor.

They now sit ten points behind league leaders Chelsea with Manchester City now in second position and the likely side to only make a challenge, although things could change it Spurs do manage to pick up points against Stoke City, Everton and Crystal Palace away from home. After this FA Cup fixture against Fulham they do then face Gent in the Europa League competition at Wembley Stadium.

Championship side Fulham have started to put some good form together coming into this FA Cup tie with fellow Londoners Tottenham Hotspurs. Winning four out of their last five games played in all competitions, with the other a loss away from home to Birmingham City at the beginning of February. The club have now moved up into eight position and look to continue up the table in the coming weeks.

Fulham are away from home for the next two games after the FA Cup clash with Spurs. They face Bristol City and Cardiff City and then have the joy of two home games against Preston North End and Leeds United. The two away games should be wins with both lower than Fulham in the league, and then with Leeds United and Preston North End the tough games being at home could also potentially seal much needed wins.

Fulham Team News:

The hosts will be without Ryan Fredericks for this game with him being suspended, yet Tomas Kalas could feature with him now becoming available for selection. Manager Jokanovic has confirmed that Marcus Bettinelli will be starting in goal for the Championship side.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News:

Tottenham Hotspurs welcome back Jan Vertonghen with the defender being out since January with ankle ligament damage. I do however feel the defender is more likely to start on the bench and then get some game time in the second half of the match. Harry Kane might miss out after picking up a knock against Gent so I am not sure if the striker will be risked.

Fulham v Tottenham Hotspur Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five fixtures played against each other it is easily Tottenham Hotspurs day with winning four and losing the once. In total the two have met on fifty two occasions with Spurs dominating with twenty nine victories. Fulham have only won nine of the meetings and have also took part in fourteen draws.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the fifty two games played out against each other we have seen a total of 147 goals scored which is going to give us a goals per game average of 2.8 which has happened in a number of the above five fixtures. I feel the below selection for this FA Cup game could be a solid bet come Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur: L L W D W

Although Tottenham Hotspurs are the better side and play in the better league, it is in fact the Championship side Fulham who have enjoyed the better results in the last five games with four wins and a loss. Spurs have lost twice in a row yet are of course still favourites to win at Fulham come Sunday.

Fulham may well be in good form and have the home advantage on Sunday yet are still not considered as the favourites to progress into the next round of the competition. The Draw I do feel is actually a good option for this encounter, with Fulham being in such good form and Spurs losing the last two games you just never know. The best odds from the bookies to see a draw are found here @ 14/5 with Betvictor – Bet £10 Get £60 when Registering a New Account

Tottenham Hotspur are as expected the bookmakers favourites to win this 5th round tie even though they have been playing poorly and lost twice on the trot recently. Fulham v Tottenham Hotspur Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

FA Cup 5th round action this Sunday can be found live at Craven Cottage where Fulham welcome fellow Londoners Tottenham Hotspurs to their ground. Spurs are as expected the favourites to win this encounter and progress into the quarter finals of the competition. Fulham as we have mentioned are the better team in form currently, yet beating Spurs I do feel is slightly unlikely even with their current form.

Tottenham Hotspurs could find themselves knocked out of even more competitions soon with them already out of the League Cup and Champions League, and now face a home tie to Gent where they currently sit behind by a one goal aggregate. If they lose this game against Championship side Fulham, and then fail to beat Gent at Wembley after then it could potentially spell complete disaster for the clubs season hopes.

I’m not sure which way to go here because Fulham are in good form and do have the home advantage, but then they are facing Spurs who are currently sitting in third position in the Premier League. Yes they have lost a couple of games recently, but before that they have been exceptional in the domestic competitions. Where as Fulham have been hit and miss and currently sit in eight position in a league lower.

My predictions for this game will be to back Tottenham Hotspurs to win, but its how they will win I feel will make it worth it. Fulham are doing well and Spurs are leaking goals, so I think I am going to take both teams to score and Spurs to win the match. My next will be for the simple two to three goals being scored on the day, which will match the goals per game average between the two clubs.
