Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur Preview, Premiership, Sunday 18th August 2013

Newly promoted Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway is very excited to be in the Premier League again and cannot wait to feel the buzz in what being in this division brings. But has stated that he required more experience to join his squad if they are to stay up this year and although Wilfried Zaha may not be experienced, Holloway was still hoping to lure the the exciting winger back to Selhurst Park on loan. Palace skipper Paddy McCarthy insists that the team will approach the Premiership season with no fear as they look to secure their stay in England’s top flight.

Tottenham Hotspur have had a mixed results pre-season to date starting with a loss to Sunderland in a 3 – 1 brawl and then bounced back to smash South China 6 goals to nil back in July, but in August results were not too good with a heavy loss to newly promoted French side Monaco which ended 5 – 2. The tour ended with a one one draw against Spanish side Espanyol. Much of the talk still is about the world record transfer bid for Gareth Bale with an offer believed to be £85 million, but Spurs are holding out for what is believed to be £110 million which is just ludicrous and once again shows Tottenham’s chairman Daniel Levy greedy side.

Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Crystal Palace Team News:

Palace boss Ian Holloway has been a busy man in the transfer market during the summer with signing 9 players on permanent deals and also signing Antonio Pedroza on loan from Mexican club Monarcas Morelia. With only spending around £9 million a majority of that fee was spent on center forward Dwight Gayle from Peterborough United for just under £5 million. Crystal Palace have also seen 7 players depart the London club all on free transfers and even though Holloway has brought in many new faces he is still busy looking to add more experience to his squad to insure that the club stay up this year.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News:

In recent Tottenham Hotspurs transfer news the sale of Scott Parker to Queens Park Rangers is on the cards after a better bid came in for the England midfielder, yet it is still believed that Fulham are also interested in Parker’s services and QPR boss Harry Redknapp is worried the England man may be tempted by Fulham as a way to stay in the Premiership. In news that will please Crystal Palace fans is that world class winger Gareth Bale will not feature in the game on Sunday with no information as to why and it can only be assumed its because the Welsh star has said to his manager that he wants to join Real Madrid before the transfer deadline.

Who Has The Advantage?

Surprisingly Crystal Palace have had the best results between these two London sides but then again these two haven’t met in a long time and I will be interested to see who can come out winners here come Sunday.

Average Goals Per Game?

With only 12 goals being scored in the last 5 matches it would give us an average of 2.4 goals per game so we should see a few balls fly into the net on Sunday.

Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur Recent Form

Crystal Palace: W W L L W

Tottenham Hotspur: W L L W D

Crystal Palace are in better form from the last 5 games but that shouldn’t give them an advantage against this Spurs side.

Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Looking at the fact that Crystal Palace have just been promoted and that Spurs finished 5th last year I would fancy Spurs to win comfortable here so going for a correct score of 2 – 1. I was going to go for a clean sheet but Tottenham have conceded many goals during pre-season and feel Palace do have a goal in them.
