Leicester City v Tottenham Hotspur Preview, Premiership, Thursday 18th May 2017.

Leicester City have done well coming back from certain relegation with the appointment of their new manager Craig Shakespeare. Two league wins and a draw out of the last five games have secured them the opportunity to fight again in the Premiership next season although there is still plenty yet to play for. Winning their last two games could see them finish in the top eight which is very respectable for Leicester.

Although they are seen as not having much hope of beating this Tottenham Hotspurs team at the King Power stadium they are in my eyes certainly in with a should. I say this because Spurs have nothing to play for now but pride, so we could see them rest a couple of players to avoid injury with it being such a busy fixture list all season.

Tottenham Hotspurs have recorded a sensational feat this season with coming second in the Premier League, and if they hadn’t of  slipped up against West Ham United recently, and then Liverpool back in February then they may of ended up top of the league and be lifting the title instead of Chelsea. That said it is a lot of ‘ifs and buts’ as other games could of very well ended differently.

One thing I must say is I can imagine the anger of Arsenal fans knowing that their bitter rivals have finally finished higher in the league table than themselves, which is something I have never seen in my lifetime that I can remember. The other thing is I can imagine this Tottenham Hotspur side continuing in their performances and maybe even winning a title with this young talented side in the very near future.

Leicester City Team News :

Leicester City have an injury list as long as my arm with Danny Drinkwater (thigh), Wes Morgan (hamstring) and King (hamstring) all joining the likes of Nampalys Mendy (ankle) and Robert Hugh (foot) on the sidelines. This will mean the likes of youngsters Josh Knight and Elliott Moore having the task of dealing with Spur’s attack.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News :

Spurs don’t get off lightly either as they also have a number of injuries to worry about. Kieran Trippier suffered concussion against Manchester United while Kyle Walker still has a light knock on his ankle and will now miss out. Danny Rose is out for a while which does leave manager Pochettino with very little options in the full back areas. Mousa Dembele is likely to be rested while Erik Lamela continues his recovery.

Leicester City v Tottenham Hotspur Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five head to head battles played both teams get to share the spoils here with a win each, and the three draws. In total they have met on 83 occasions with Leicester City winning a respectable thirty games, where as Spurs have won a total of thirty seven. Leaving sixteen games ending in draws of some sort. Tottenham Hotspurs will be the favourites to win here come Thursday evening.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the eighty three games played out we have seen a total of 298 goals scored, which is going to give us a goals per game average of 3.6 which is very high. I’d be more inclined to take a couple, to three goals on the night, especially with the way the Spurs strikers are playing right now. Best odds on that can be seen below.

Tottenham Hotspur: W L W W L

Leicester City have been dire all season and have no excuse especially with them shocking the world and winning the Premiership title last season. They sacked their manager which was another shock but since then have managed to crawl out of the relegation area and avoid the drop this time round. Spurs finish the season in second place which is an incredible achievement.

Leicester City v Tottenham Hotspur Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Thursday nights game at the King Power stadium will see home side Leicester City welcome second place Tottenham Hotspurs which can be viewed live on Sky Sports 1 in high definition. Although Spurs have little left to play for but pride, this Leicester City side still have it all to give with a top eight finish still up for grabs.

This does of course depend on the likes of Southampton who still have a couple of games left to play, where as West Bromwich Albion and AFC Bournemouth just have the one and who knows what the outcome of those fixtures could be. That said Leicester still need to beat this Spurs side yet, which is being seen as very unlikely in the leading bookmakers eyes.

As already stated, Tottenham Hotspurs have been exceptional all season and could of very well easily won this season if Chelsea were not so dominant. The likes of Arsenal and Manchester United were lacking all season where as Manchester City were their usual good self. Liverpool also did extremely well this season and are likely to finish in the top four if they can win their last game against the relegated Middlesbrough.

My predictions for this game are leaning more towards a draw, even though I do really want Leicester City to win this game as they still have a top eight finish to fight for. My banker is going to be for Spurs to win however as I do feel pride will get in the way of Leicester City’s efforts. My next will be the long shot with a rare Leicester City 1 – 0 win at home.
