Liverpool v Sevilla Preview, Europa League Final, Wednesday 18th May 2016

Liverpool head into their 4th European final in good stead having comfortably beat Villarreal in the semi final over two legs 3-1, but their league form in the premiership has been a bit under par as they have managed just one win their final four matches.

Liverpool know the importance of winning this game on Wednesday night as with failure to have qualified for a place in Europe next season, this tournament is now their only route to Europe and with the club looking to spend big during the summer, their involvement in Europe will go a long way to which new players end up signing for them and this makes this match a huge game for Liverpool football club is so many ways.

Sevilla are heading into their second straight final of which they have won the previous two and if they win this game on Wednesday night the club would become the only team to have ever won three UEFA Cup finals back to back which would be some achievement indeed.

Sevilla came through their semi final match beating Shakhtar Donetsk 5-3 over their two legs and like Liverpool their only route into European football next season will be by them having to win this tournament as although they will go head to head against the mighty Barcelona in the Copa de Rey final at the end of May, not many people are expecting them to win that game.

Liverpool Team News:

Liverpool will be without Mamadou Sakho, Danny Ward and Joe Gomez for this match. Danny Ings will also be missing despite having returned back to the squad after many months out with injury and both Jordan Henderson and Divock Origi will probably have to be content with a place on the bench.

Sevilla Team News:

will be without Michael Krohn-Dehli as he continues to recover from a knee problem. Jose Antonio Reyes could become the first players to win the trophy four times, but is unlikely to feature on Wednesday night. One player who will definitely feature is striker Kevin Gameiro who has been excellent in front of goal this season and will be the main threat for the Liverpool defence to contend with.

Liverpool v Sevilla Head to Head Statistics:

Wednesday night’s match from St Jakob-Park will become the first ever meeting between the two clubs, so unfortunatley we have no head to head statisitcs data to provide you with on this game.

Liverpool v Sevilla Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Both clubs will know the importance of winning this match on Wednesday night as it will be their only route back into European football next season, which in itself brings a lot of money to the club.

Liverpool did look very impressive in their 3-0 destruction of Villarreal in that 2nd leg match at Anfield Stadium, but this will be a much more difficult game and with the match taking place at St Jakob-Park where Liverpool have failed to win on both of their last visits, I am expecting Sevilla to turn them over in this one.

Sevilla will make history with a victory on Wednesday night as they will become the first ever team to have won the UEFA Cup three successive times and that could be a record that might never be broken !

I have been impressed at the way Sevilla get the job done and although their league form recently has been hardly inspiring, I do believe that a big reason for that is because the players have had this final on their mind for quite some time and I do expect Sevilla to succeed.

Onto some predictions then and my Banker Free Tip for this game is going to be for Sevilla to lift their 3rd European Cup and become the first team ever to have won this tournament on three successive times and for me they look good value to do so.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip will be for Sevilla’s top goalscorer and striker Kevin Gameiro to open up the scoring for his team as he has been really impressive in front of goal this season and also looks great odds considering his lethal finishing skills.
