Chelsea v Manchester United Preview, Premiership, Saturday 18th April 2015

Chelsea look to have the Premiership league title sewn up as they sit top of the table with a 7pt lead over nearest challengers Arsenal. Jose Mourinho’s side have just 7 games of the season left to play and a victory in this one against 3rd placed Manchester United would pretty much mean game set and match for the club and I would fully expect the hosts to go out and put everything into trying to win this game on Saturday evening.

Manchester United had a somewhat dodgy start to their new season campaign, but manager Louis Van Gaal has now seemed to have find that all important winning formula and his side head into this game having been in excellent form of late and have won all of their last 5 games prior to this.

The loss of Robin Van Persie due to injury has seemed to work wonders for the side who now have Wayne Rooney playing as the main central striker and Marouane Fellaini acting as the support and with players like Juan Matta and Ashley Young providing the width, Manchester United do look a completely different side to the one we first saw back in August when the season go under way.

Chelsea Team News:

The hosts will be without top goalscorer this season Diego Costa as he continues to receive treatment for a hamstring injury and Loic Remy is also a major doubt as he suffers from a calf problem. So this could see Didier Drogba start this game up front with support in behind being provided by Hazzard, Willian, Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas.

Manchester United Team News:

The visitors have no reported injury problems, but are waiting on results of Michael Carrick who had to limp of with a minor injury in the Manchester derby last weekend. Luke Shaw and Robin Van Persie have now fully recovered from their recent injury problems and have both resumed training with the squad and both might get a chance to feature at some point during this game if the manager decides it as being necessary.

Wayne Rooney will lead the attack up front with Marouane Fellaini once again being the target man with Ashley Young and Juan Matta providing the support.

Saturday evening’s fixture from Stamford Bridge will become the 154th meeting overall between the two clubs over the years. Our head to head statistics table below shows the previous five matches played between the two clubs over recent season’s and as we can see it has been Chelsea who havedominated proceedings having won 3 with Manchester United having won 0 and the remaining 2 games having finished all square.

In the 153 previous games that have taken place overall between these two clubs we have seen a total of 447 goals scored and this provides us with an average goals per game statistic of 2.92.

249 of those Goals have been scored in the previous 78 matches played between the two clubs at Stamford Bridge and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic for this game of 3.19.

Both sets of data shown above seem to strongly suggest that this game on Saturday evening should see plenty of goals grace the back of the nets.

Chelsea v Manchester United Match Betting Odds Market

Chelsea have been installed as the clear favourites to win this game on Saturday evening at a current best price of 21/20 with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers.

The Draw has been common result seen when these two heavy-weights have battled it out in the past and I can certainly see this game as having potential to finish all square and does look good value at a current best price of 5/2 with Paddy Power – Bet £10 & Receive £20 Free Bets for New Customers.

Manchester United are not really expected to win this game, despite being in better recent form and having a good record in this fixture at Stamford Bridge over the years and for me their current best price of 31/0 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets for New Customers, does look worth having at least something on as it also looks good value.

Chelsea v Manchester United Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

A real exciting game in store here and one that could certainly go a long way towards Chelsea taking a huge step towards being crowned at Premiership Champions as if the hosts were to win this game they would protect their 7pt lead with just 6 matches remaining.

Obviously Manchester United will hope to be able to spoil the party and with the way the side has been playing over the last couple of months, they certainly have a very realistic chance of causing a bit of an upset on Saturday evening as with Chelsea missing their top goalscorer Diego Costa due to injury and their back up striker Loic Remy also having injury problems of his own, the hosts might have to rely on veteran striker Didier Drogba to fill in and if that’s the case you would like to think that the United defence would probably come out on top in that battle.

The average goals per game statistics are expecting this match to see plenty of goals scored and with the array of world class individuals on show, I do expect to see at least a couple bulge the nets at some point during the game.

Onto some predictions then and my Banker selection is going to be for this game to finish all square as with the reverse fixture back at Old Trafford this season having finished 1-1, I can definitely see this one following suit and this does look good value to be on.

My Saver is going to be for Both Teams to Score & Manchester United to Win as for me they have the better attack in this match and with the option to bring Robin Van Persie on who will almost certainly be wanting to make a statement about all the poor press he has received since being on the touch line, I do think that if anyone is going to win this game, it will be Manchester United.
