Real Betis v Real Madrid Preview, Primera La Liga, Saturday 18th January 2014

After this weeks disappointment in the Cope del Rey, Real Betis hope to start their immediate recovery from relegation woes. Having only won eleven points in nineteen games the bottom placed side are in serious trouble as the closest team to them is Rayo Vallecano who sit five points in front of them. Real Betis have only won seven times in thirty seven games against Spanish giants Real Madrid and only five of them have been at home. With the way they are playing in the La Liga I can’t see much hope for a victory on Saturday with Real Betis only winning twice in the league this season.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has challenged his side to continue in their hard work this season as they look to chase current leaders Barcelona and Atletico Madrid who are both three points in front. Both La Liga leaders do not play until Sunday so Real Madrid have a chance on Saturday. Although they can only go top if they managed to beat Real Betis ten nil which is something unseen in the past head to head encounters between these two. A five nil win will see them go second for the first time in months which will place pressure on both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in their respected matches on Sunday.

Real Betis v Real Madrid Team News

Real Betis Team News:

Real Betis have had a few injury issues this season with their latest list being Alvaro Vadillo(Thigh), Xavi Torres(Ankle), Damien Perquis(Broken Jaw) and Nigerian Nosa Igiebor out with a hamstring injury. They are also without the Spaniard Jose Villa aka Nono who is serving a suspension.

Real Madrid Team News:

Only the two usual suspects are out injured for Real Madrid, with Raphael Varane still out with a knee injury and the German star Sami Khedira still out with crucial knee ligament damage and will unlikely play again this season. Fabio Coentrao will also be missing after two yellow cards see him sent off against Osasuna in the 84th minute.

Real Betis v Real Madrid Head to Head Statistics

Although Real Betis have recorded a rare win against Real Madrid in recent years it is only a result seen 7 times in total now with 5 of the wins coming from home. In total though these two sides have played each other 37 times where Real Madrid dominate with 18 wins over Real Betis’ 7. We have also seen 12 draws with 7 of them set with Real Madrid away from home.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the past 37 games we have seen a total of 95 goals scored which is giving us an average of 2.56 goals per game, which as you can imagine is very low for a club like Real Madrid and their scoring capabilities. Saturdays game however could improve that result as Real Betis right now are struggling for any kind of form while sitting bottom of the La Liga Division.

Real Betis v Real Madrid Recent Form (Left to Right)

Real Betis: L W D L D

Real Madrid: W W W W W

As we can see these two teams are very far apart when it comes down to quality and La Liga position. With Real Madrid having not lost 16 games and now facing bottom side Real Betis I cannot see anything getting in their way this month of the beginning of next.

Real Betis v Real Madrid Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Real Betis may of had a good cup run until their recent loss to Atletico Bilbao this week see them exit only just on aggregate. Yet when it comes down to the La Liga performances we have only seen them win twice which as you can agree is a shocking display of form by a club more used to fighting in the middle of the table. Real Madrid themselves are still knocking out the wins although we haven’t seen a huge number of goals in any games played since that 4 – 0 win over Real Valladolid at the end of November.

We are commonly seeing a couple of goals scored by the title chasing side and rarely conceding any goals as of late. With the last goal being scored against them back in December when Valencia gave Real Madrid a run for their money in a 3 – 2 finish in Madrid’s favour. I am sure however that Real Betis won’t score, I am very confident of that fact and it comes down to Real Madrid’s capability to score in a game where I can imagine a certain team having eleven men behind the ball at all times.

But will that stop such class such as Karim Benzema who has been scoring many goals as of late, or the Worlds Best Players Cristiano Ronaldo who has scored an incredible twenty goals in eighteen matches. Then theirs the Welsh Wizard Gareth Bale who has been terrorizing teams when fit and able for selection. So lets get down to some predictions, I don’t see Real Betis scoring as already mentioned, and I at least see Real Madrid scoring a minimum of three goals. But the first I am going for is for Real Madrid to WIN both halves, the odds have confused me because although Betis could frustrate Madrid they are more likely to score early on and then more so in the 2nd half. The other I am going for is Karim Benzema to score two or more goals which with the form he is in is more than possible.
