Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool Preview, Premiership, Saturday 17th October 2015.

Back to Premiership action this weekend with two teams not exactly firing on all cylinders right now. Tottenham Hotspurs however are the slightly better side with an extra point than their opponents and currently sitting in eight position. Last month we did see this Spurs side completely destroy Manchester City at White Hart Lane, where the result would of usually been quite the opposite with City often being the Londoners bogie team. Since then they have done well in Europe drawing away from home to talented side Monaco, although in there return should of done much better against Swansea City where the game ended 2 – 2. The game at home against Liverpool will certainly be a tough one, as their opponents welcome their new manager Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool have been a complete let down this season and the poor results has finally seen the sacking of Brendan Rodgers even though the ex Swansea City manager signed a new contract the previous year. Talks were had with Borussia Dortmunds ex manager Jurgen Klopp, and the end result being a very positive one with the German signing a three year contract. Many top managers such as Sir Alex Ferguson, have said someone like Klopp could seriously turn a side such as Liverpool back into a dominant force in Europe, if the manager is given the time and money needed to transform the club. Liverpool haven’t been the best lately and it was the draw against Everton that was the final straw for Rodgers, and not doing to well in the Europa League would of also been another factor.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News:

Tottenham Hotspurs are without a trio of players for this encounter as midfielders Ryan Mason (knee) and Heung-Min Son (ankle) sit in the crowd to watch the game. Alex Pritchard is another player missing from the selection process due to an ankle injury.

Liverpool Team News:

Liverpool’s new boss has a number of injury issues right now with six first team players currently out. Roberto Firmino (back) is the first while defender Dejan Lovren (ankle) also sits out. Christian Benteke has a hamstring issue still while John Flanagan is still out with his knee. Jordan Henderson (metatarsal fracture) and Joe Gomez (knee ligaments) complete the six missing.

Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five head to head encounters we have seen Liverpool completely dominate with five wins from five games, something Tottenham Hotspurs will be hoping to correct come Saturday. In total the two have met on 147 occasions with Liverpool continuing to dominate with 69 wins, 42 loses and 36 draws. The last time Spurs won against Liverpool was back in 2012 and at White Hart Lane.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 147 games played out against each other we have seen a total of 406 goals scored which is going to give us an average of 2.7. Yet in the last five games played against each other that average is very different with it sitting at 4.4 goals scored per game. So hopefully we just may see another exciting game on Saturday with plenty of goals.

Liverpool: D D W W D

It is in fact Liverpool who have the slightly better form in the last five games, with them not having lost at all. Where as Tottenham Hotspurs did lose in the Capital One Cup against bitter rivals Arsenal. Liverpool have been dominate both home and away since 2012 so would be favourites to win.

Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

International break is now all done and dusted with England qualifying with ease from their group, and now we can get back down to the excitement of the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspurs verses Liverpool. The game can be viewed live on BT Sports 1 High Definition and if recent head to heads are anything to go by we should be promised an amazing game with plenty of goals and drama. Tottenham Hotspurs haven’t beaten Liverpool for three years with the last being way back in 2012 at home. Since that victory the London club have lost the five games played and will certainly be looking to rectify that come Saturday.

Liverpool will play their first game under new manager Jurgen Klopp who recently replaced Brendan Rodgers after he was sacked after the poor result against bitter rivals Everton. Klopp has a lot of work to do if he wishes to make Liverpool into the team they were back in the 1980’s and with the history to take into consideration the German most definitely has his work cut out. That said he certainly has the backing of greats such as Sir Alex Ferguson who does believe the ex Borussia Dortmund manager has what it takes to make Liverpool a great once again.

My predictions are leaning more towards favouring that of Liverpool, purely based on the fact that their last five encounters have been great with five wins from five. We do also see them under new management so could be looking to impress their new manager Jurgen Klopp. So for the first lets go with Liverpool to win the game 3 – 1 after ninety minutes, which then reflects on just how many goals seem to get scored between these two sides. The second I am going for is both teams to score and also to draw the game, which will be the first draw since early 2012.
