Arsenal v Crystal Palace Preview, Premiership, Sunday 17th April 2016

Arsenal head into this game currently holding 3rd position in the premiership league table and that means that they will head straight into the group stages of the champions league stage next season.

However, Manchester City and Manchester United are both right behind them in 4th and 5th place respectively and any dropped points in this game could prove costly for the gunners.

Crystal Palace are currently in 16th position of the league table and with an 11 point lead over Sunderland, it does look as if Palace are safe from the threat of relegation as although I don’t expect them to win this game on Sunday afternoon, I do see them picking up at least another 4 or more points from their remaining four matches left in the season and that should prove more than enough to safeguard their future in england’s top flight league.

Arsenal Team News (Courtesy of PremierLeague.com):

David Ospina has started in goal in Arsenal’s last four league outings, following a calf injury to the now fit-again Petr Cech, and Wenger would not confirm who he will start against Palace.

Despite a 13-point gap to leaders Leicester City, Wenger insists the title race is not over, although the Frenchman is still without the likes of Santi Cazorla (knee), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee), Tomas Rosicky and Jack Wilshere (leg).

Crystal Palace Team News (Courtesy of PremierLeague.com):

Palace will be missing Dwight Gayle (gluteal) while Zaha is carrying a slight knock and manager Alan Pardew feels his side’s recent good run should give them confidence for Sunday’s match.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace Head to Head Statistics:

Sunday afternoon’s match from the Emirates Stadium will become the 32nd meeting between the two clubs over the years. Arsenal have managed to secure 21 victories overall with 12 of these having come with home advantage, where as Crystal Palace have managed just 2 victories overall with just the 1 of those having came away at the Emirates Stadium.

Our head to head statistics table below shows the last five matches played between the two clubs and as we can see it has been Arsenal who have dominiated recent season’s having managed to win all five previous meetings between the two clubs.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

92 Goals have been scored in the previous 31 matches played between the two clubs over the years, which provides us with an average goals per game statistic of 2.97.

47 of those Goals have been scored in the previous 15 matches played between the two clubs at the Emirates Stadium which generates us an average goals per game statistic of 3.13.

Both sets of statistics seem to suggest that this game should see between at least 2 or 3 Goals scored on Sunday afternoon and betting markets such as Total Match Goals 2 or 3 and Over 2.5 Goals look the best choices from the online bookmakers.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace Match Betting Odds Market

Arsenal are the clear odds on favourites to win this game on Sunday afternoon and are currently a best price available of 4/11 with with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers Registering an Account and this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone as Arsenal have had by far the better season out of the two clubs as their league position shows.

The Draw has not happened once in the previous five meetings played between the two clubs and I don’t really see those statistics changing much in this one, but for those that think that Palace can get a draw out of this game you can enjoy a current best price of 9/2 with SkyBet – Bet £5 & Receive £20 Free Bets for New Customers Registering an Account.

Crystal Palace are unbeaten in their last three league matches, but I just don’t see them having the quality in their squad to trouble Arsenal and so no real shock to see the online bookmakers offering up a  current best price of 9/1 with BetVictor – £50 Free Bets for New Customers Registering an Account.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Arsenal will be looking to bounce back to winning ways in this game after throwing away a 2-0 lead against West Ham United last time out in which the game finished 3-3, manager Arsene Wenger will not have been happy at all with the way his side defended in that match and I fully expect to see a much better performance by the Arsenal players in this one.

Crystal Palace are in a decent run of recent form and remain unbeaten in their last three league matches, but as previously mentioned, I just don’t see them having the class or quality in their side to cause Arsenal too many problems in this game although Cabaye, Bolasie and Zaha do have the potential to trouble the Arsenal defence and I can possibly see Palace getting at least one goal in this game.

Onto some predictions then and my Banker Free Tip for this game is going to be for Both Teams to Score and Arsenal to Win as the odds available for this are excellent value and with the last three meetings between the two teams having all ended up in 2-1 victories for Arsenal the signs are postive that this game could follow suit.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip will be for Arsenal striker Oliver Giroud to score the first goal of the game as he is his clubs current top goalscorer this season with 12 with 5 of those having been the first goal of the game.
