Monaco v Arsenal Preview, Champions League, Tuesday 17th March 2015

Monaco defied the odds and came away with a very impressive 3-1 victory from the 1st Leg and that result now has them in complete control of this tie and with home advantage, Arsenal really do have it all to do if they are to somehow stay in this competition.

Monaco will head into this game on Tuesday night having enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 victory at home against Bastia over the weekend just gone, that result now puts the club 8pts behind current league leaders Lyon and the confidence through out the whole squad is very high.

Arsenal were also very comfortable winners in their league fixture over the weekend just gone when beating West Ham United at home by 3-0 and that was a good result for Arsene Wengers side as West Ham United have been playing well this season and to win that game as easy as they did will no doubt have provided the players with the confidence that they can turn this tie around on Tuesday night in France.

Monaco Team News:

Defender Andrea Baggi is out until April with a knee injury whilst Bakayoko will not feature due to a hamstring injury. Lacina Traore is the 3rd and final injured player for the hosts, he has a fractured tibia and will not be fit for another two months.

Arsenal Team News:

Gabriel Paulista (hamstring), Debuchy (shoulder), Mikel Arteta (unknown), Abou Diaby (calf) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (hamstring) are the 5 players absent for the visitors. Arsene Wenger’s should start with two Strikers if they’re going to get back into this tie.

Arsenal v Monaco Head to Head Statistics

Tuesday night’s 2nd Leg match from the Stade Louis II will become only the 3rd meeting between the two clubs over the years and as we can see from our head to head statistics table below it has been Monaco who have won both previous games.

Monaco are certainly in the driving seat for this 2nd Leg match, but the online bookmakers don’t see them winning the game as they currently have the hosts priced up at a best price of 23/10 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets for New Customers.

The Draw is not a result that would suit Arsenal and does look an unlikely outcome in this game, but for those that think the two sides will battle out a draw can enjoy a best price of 5/2 with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers.

Monaco v Arsenal Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Monaco completely outplayed Arsenal in the 1st Leg match at the Emirates Stadium and are now just 90mins away from advancing through to the Semi Finals.

I would expect the hosts to defend very deep in this game and protect their two goal lead and try to hit Arsenal on the counter attack, but I’m not to sure that this is going to be the right option as for me it will suit Arsenal better than if Monaco came out and tried to score again.

I do think the online bookmakers have got this right though as for me I do expect Arsenal to win this game after 90mins, but whether or not they have managed to do enough to keep them in the tournament, that really is anyone’s guess.

They do have the players in their squad capable of finding the Monaco net for the three goals they need and if they managed to score an early goal then it certainly would see Monaco into changing their sit deep and defend attitude and we could be in store for a very exciting game indeed.

The average goals per game statistics are expecting at least a couple of goals to be scored in this one and I am expecting Arsenal to do most if not all of the scoring and as such my Banker prediction is going to be for Giroud to Score & Arsenal to Win.

My Saver is going to be for Arsenal to Win Both Halves as I really do expect them to start this game on the front foot and put the hosts under pressure from the first blow of the referee’s whistle.
