Republic of Ireland v Bosnia-Herzegovina Preview, Euro 2016 Qualification Play-Off 2nd Leg, Monday 16th November 2015

The Republic of Ireland secured a very important 1-1 draw in the first leg over at the Bilino Polje Stadium last Friday night and now with home advantage and a packed out crowd expected at the Aviva Stadium on Monday night, the hosts certainly have more than a good chance of booking their place in next summer’s finals in France.

Bosnia-Herzegovina will have been disappointed with their performance in that 1st leg match and will no doubt find this 2nd leg match even more difficult than the first one and with their record away from home in the qualification group not that great, the visitors really do have it all to do on Monday night.

Republic of Ireland Team News:

The hosts welcome back both John O’Shea and Jonathan Walters to the squad for this game after their recent suspension saw them miss the 1-1 draw 1st leg affair, although John O’Shea will undertake a late fitness test to see if he can play as he is currently suffering from a hamstring problem. Shane Long is also a doubt as he continues to struggle with an ankle problem. Daryl Murphy will again likely be the choice to start the game as the main striker with veteran goalscorer Robbie Keane on the bench.

Bosnia-Herzegovina Team News:

The visitors could be without Edin Dzeko and full-back Mensur Mujdza as both players picked up injuries in that 1-1 draw 1st leg match last Friday night. Both players will undertake a late fitness test on Monday morning to see if either of them can participate. Muhamed Besic returns to the squad having served a three match suspension which is a huge boost for the away side.

Republic of Ireland v Bosnia-Herzegovina Head to Head Statistics:

Monday night’s match from the Aviva Stadium will become just the 3rd meeting between the two nations over the years and as we can see from our head to head statistic table below, Republic of Ireland have a clear advantage having won one and drew one with Bosnia-Herzegovina having failed to win any.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

3 Goals have been scored in the previous two encounters between the two countries over the years which provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 1.50.

1 of those goals has been scored in the only other game played in the Republic of Ireland and this generates us an average goals per game statistic of exactly 1.00.

Based on the data provided above, it does seem to indicate that this match on Monday night is unlikely to see many goals scored with probably one or two gracing the nets if we are lucky.

Bosnia-Herzegovina v Republic of Ireland Match Betting Odds Market

Republic of Ireland have home advantage and know that a victory will be enough to send them through to the finals in France next summer and the online bookmakers are offering up a current best price of 6/5 with Coral – Bet £5 & Receive £20 Free Bets when Registering a New Account.

The Draw chas to be an option also as with both sides having drawn 1-1 last Friday night in the first leg, it certainly wouldn’t surprise me to see this game follow suit and the draw looks good value at a current best price of 11/5 with BetVictor – Receive £50 Free Bets when You Register a New Account.

Bosnia-Herzegovina acan win this game as for me their attack does look stronger than that of the Republic of Ireland’s squad, but if Edin Dzeko does not feature then it will certainly be extremely hard work for the visitors to win this game and I am a bit surprise to see their current best price of 23/10 with SkyBet – Deposit £5 & Receive £20 Free Bets when Registering a New Account.

Republic of Ireland v Bosnia-Herzegovina Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

This match will obviously be quite a dull affair I would imagine as the Republic of Ireland will no doubt start with five in midfield and one striker up top in an attempt to break down Bosnia attack via midfield and I would be quite surprised to see more than two goals scored in this one.

However, I have a feeling that the cautious approach by the irish will back-fire come Monday night and if ex Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is passed fit to play then I can definitely see Bosnia winning this game and booking their place at the finals next summer in France as for me the visitors squad does look the more stronger and also the more technically gifted.

Onto some predictions then and my Banker Free Tip for this match is going to be Bosnia-Herzegovina to cause a shock victory on Monday night and make it a very miserable evening indeed for all Republic of Ireland supporters.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip is going to be for Edin Dzeko to open up the scoring in the game as he is definitely the main threat for the visitors and having scored an important equaliser in the 1st leg, he will be in confident mood of being able to get another in this game.
