Wolves v Hull City Preview, Championship, Sunday 16th August 2015

Wolves got their new campaign off to the perfect start last weekend when beating Blackburn Rovers 2-1 away from home last weekend and the players and fans will be confident of keeping their good start to the season going, especially with having received a morale boosting 2-1 victory midweek against Newport County in the League Cup.

Hull City will obviously be hoping for a return straight back up into the Premiership next season and also got off to the perfect start when beating Huddersfield 2-0 at home last weekend. They were also winners in their midweek League Cup match against Accrington Stanley away from home after a penalty shoot-out and like their hosts they will also be confident about obtaining the right result come Sunday afternoon.

Wolves Team News:

George Saville is still unavailable along with new boy Jed Wallace and Danny Batth is still receiving treatment for a broken foot picked up towards the end of last season, but the hosts will likely head into this game with the same starting eleven that beat Blackburn Rovers last weekend.

The club received a huge boost midweek when midfielder David Edwards secured his stay at the club until 2017 having signed a one year contract extension much to the fans delight as it was his goal last weekend to make it 2-1 that secured all 3pts for his side away against Blackburn Rovers.

Hull City Team News:

The visitors will be without Alex Bruce (Achilles), Mo Diame (knee) and Abel Hernandez (suspended) are unavailable, but other than these players manager Steve Bruce has full squad available and he will also go with the same starting eleven that were comfortable 2-0 winners at home against Huddersfield on the opening day of the season, Sam Clucas and Chuba Akpom scoring the decisive goals that day.

Wolves v Hull City Head to Head Statistics:

Sunday lunchtime’s game from Molinuex Stadium will become only the 11th meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Wolves have won 4 with 3 of those having came with home advantage where as Hull City have also managed 4 victories, with just 1 of those having came away from home.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

25 Goals have been scored in the previous 10 meetings between the two clubs and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 2.50.

9 of those Goals have came in the 5 previous matches played at Molinuex Stadium and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic of 1.80.

Based on both sets of data shown above, it does seem to indicate that this game should see a minimum of at least two goals scored and with both clubs having recored victories last weekend, this game does have a strong potential at finishing all square come Sunday afternoon.

Wolves v Hull City Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Going from the overall head to head statistics Wolves do look the more likely winners of this game on Sunday afternoon as they have managed to win 3 of their 4 matches played against Hull City at Molineux Stadium.

However, Hull City still have a very strong side despite having been relegated from the Premiership last season and they did look impressive winners last weekend when beating Huddersfield 2-0 at home.

A tough game to predict a clear winner of this in my opinion as there are certainly strong arguments for both sides chances and the safest option from a betting point of view does seem to be the total exact goals or both teams to score betting markets as three of the last five matches played between the two clubs has been both of these having came up.

As such my Banker Free Tip for this match is going to be Both Teams to Score as with both clubs having scored twice in their opening match of the new season last weekend I am expect this game to finish up in either a 1-1 draw or 2-1 either way depending on which club has lady luck on their side.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip is going to be Hull City striker Chuba Akpom as with the player having scored in the 2-0 victory last weekend against Huddersfield, he was also on the score-sheet in the penalty shoot victory over Accrington Stanley midweek and certainly seems to be in good form in front of goal at the moment.
