Norwich City v Ipswich Town Preview, Championship, Semi Final Play Offs, 16th May 2015

Norwich City head into this 2nd leg semi final play off fixture having secured a good 1-1 draw in the 1st leg last week and now with home advantage you would feel that the hosts should have enough to book their place in the play off final that takes place at Wembley Stadium towards the end of this month.

However, Ipswich Town do have a good squad and will also feel confident about making it through to the play off final despite only managing to draw their 1st leg match at home and it really does look as if this game could go either way on Saturday afternoon and will probably come down to the team that wants it the most.

Norwich City Team News:

Lewis Grabban continues to remain unavailable for the hosts as he serves the last of his three match ban. Other than this though manager Alex Neil has a full squad available and looks likely to stick with the same side that secured that 1-1 draw last week in the first leg.

Ipswich Town Team News:

Luke Varney has recently had surgery on a ruptured Achilles that will keep him out of action for at least six months so Paul Anderson could find himself rewarded for scoring the equalising goal last week when coming on from off the bench and start this one. Daryl Murphy is the clubs current top goalscorer this season with an impressive haul of 27 goals and he will be the main danger for the visitors.

Norwich City v Ipswich Town Head to Head Statistics:

Saturday lunch time’s 2nd leg match will become the 56th meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Norwich City have won 21 times, 12 having came with home advantage, where as Ipswich Town have won 22 times, with 7 of those having came at Carrow Road.

Our head to head statistics table below shows the previous five matches played between the two clubs over recent years and as we can see it has been Norwich City who have had much the better of the results having won 4 with Ipswich Town having struggled to win any and the remaining match which took place last weekend finishing up in a 1-1 draw.

01/03/15 CHA Norwich City v Ipswich Town 2 : 0

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

140 Goals have been scored in the previous 55 matches played between the two clubs over the years and this provides us with an average goals per game statistic of 2.54.

56 of those Goals have been scored in the previous 27 matches played between the two clubs at the Riverside Stadium and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic for this match of 2.07.

Both sets of data would seem to indicate that this game should see between 2 or 3 goals scored on Saturday afternoon.

Norwich City v Ipswich Town Recent Form (Left to Right)

Norwich City: W L D W D

Ipswich Town: W D W L D

Nothing to choose between the two clubs on the recent form statistics as both have managed to win 2, draw 2 and lose 1 of their previous five matches played, but based on the Ipswich Town having failed to win any of the previous 5 meetings, the advantage would seem to lie with the hosts here.

Recent Form Stats Pick: Norwich City to Win @ 4/5 with Ladbrokes – £25 Free Bets for New Customers

Norwich City v Ipswich Town Match Betting Odds Market

Norwich City are the clear favourites to win this game and are a current best price of 4/5 with Ladbrokes – £25 Free Bets for New Customers, which does look about right considering they have not lost against Ipswich Town since the 19th April 2009.

The Draw is an obvious outcome what with the 1st leg having finished all tied up at 1-1 and this can be backed at a current best price of 11/4 with Betfred – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets for New Customers.

Ipswich Town do seem to have it all to do here and are currently a best price of 4/1 with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers, but they do have the squad capable of causing a bit of upset here and this could be a very clever cover bet option.

Norwich City v Ipswich Town Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

All to play for here and a game that should be a very close affair indeed, although with Norwich City having not lost against Ipswich Town since the 19th April 2009, the hosts do look to have the advantage on Saturday afternoon.

Both sides had a productive season and both were in contention for automatic promotion at times during the run in and although neither of them were able to manage that, this play off does now present their last hope to secure promotion to the Premiership.

The average goals per game statistics are expecting this match to see between 2 or 3 goals scored and with the last two encounters between the two clubs having seen two goals scored this does look worth getting on and as such my Banker prediction for this game is going to be Total Match Goals 2 or 3 as I would expect the final score to be something like 1-1 or 2-1 to either team.

My Saver is going to be for Both Teams to Score & Norwich City to Win as they do look the side more likely to win this game what with their record against Ipswich Town over recent years being very good.
