QPR v Reading Preview, Championship, Sunday 16th February 2014

Queens Park Rangers have faded slightly the last few months, after sitting top of the Championships I can only imagine the pressure got to them as they have now allowed Leicester City to run away with the league. After failing to win against Burnley at the beginning of the month and then losing to Derby County on Monday we now see Harry Redknapp’s team slip down into third and three points off 2nd placed Burnley. Granted they do have a game in hand which they will need to make the most of if they wish to end the season in an automatic promotion spot.

Reading started to put a run of good wins together until the end of last month where they slipped up away from home to Ipswich Town but soon bounced back to thrash Blackpool and Millwall with two easy wins. You would of bet on them easily dispatching Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday at home but found themselves frustrated as Wednesday battled hard for a two nil win much to the disappointment of the Reading fans. With only a point between them and Brighton & Hove they will need to hit QPR hard and come away with the win if they wish to stay withing the play off positions.

QPR v Reading Team News

QPR Team News:

Robert Green looks to complete his 30th game this season with a start against Reading on Sunday with him being the only QPR player to play in every game so far this term. Charlie Austin should also be set to start on Sunday which will make it his twenty sixth game and has so far scored a respectable fourteen goals to date.

Reading Team News:

Reading will be missing Alex Pearce for this game after the Irishman see a straight red in the ninth minute against Sheffield Wednesday. Readings top scorer Adam Le Fondre should be starting also on Sunday, the Englishman has so far scored thirteen goals in twenty four matches. We also see thirty year old Pavel Pogrebnyak on nine goals in twenty six games which has also aided Reading so far this season.

QPR v Reading Head to Head Statistics

Its been 4 years since QPR have beaten Reading and all in all have only achieved that 4 times in the 20 matches these two have been pair in. Reading have won 8 in total which would make them the far better team here. Also in total these two sides have drawn 8 times in the past with 5 of them with Reading away from home.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In these 20 games we have recorded we have seen 38 goals scored which would give us an average of 1.9 goals per game which isn’t that exciting. With looking at the above head to head statistics you can see that average is pretty spot on if you plan to play the goals per game game.

QPR v Reading Recent Form (Left to Right)

Reading: L W W L W

Queens Park Rangers may of lost their last Championship game and drawn the previous yet they are still in slightly better form that Reading who have won 3 and lost 2 in their last 5 games. QPR are also at home and 9 points in front of Reading which gives them the better advantage.

QPR v Reading Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Taking every piece of information above into account I personally feel Queens Park Rangers will triumph in Sundays game. They are in slightly better form and as both teams lost their last game I couldn’t blame either side with a loss of confidence when coming into this match. Reading may of lost due to the early sending off and if it never happened and Reading managed the win then the form war would be in their side of the court.

Harry Redknapp will see this game as a must win as they look to continue the pressure on Burnley who over took them and planted themselves into 2nd place in the Championship. QPR do have a game in hand and if they win on Sunday then they could be set to retake that automatic promotion spot once they, or if they win their game in hand.

So lets get down to some predictions, I personally see Queens Park Rangers winning this game although I do not see it as an easy result for Harry’s side to grab. I also do see Reading in contention for the goals so plan to take both teams to score and QPR to win the game. The other I am going for is QPR to win and Wolves striker Kevin Doyle to score anytime during the game.
