Queens Park Rangers v Cardiff City Preview, Championship, Saturday 15th August 2015

It wasn’t the best of starts for Queens Park Rangers last week when they travelled across the City to play Charlton Athletic. The game ended 2 – 0 to the home side and did eventually bring questions regarding if manager Chris Ramsey was the right man to take the side straight back into the Premier League. A little harsh after only one game but you do have to take into account that QPR are a side with a lot of talent including the likes of Charlie Austin who has spent the best part of the summer being linked to Premiership sides for a transfer. Three days after their defeat Queens Park Rangers did enjoy their first win of the season when they destroyed Yeovil Town 3 – 0 in the Capital One Cup.

Cardiff City on the other hand did start a little better although still could of done better against Fulham who themselves have been tipped to be relegated come the end of the season. That said they did then go and win against AFC Wimbledon in the Capital One Cup to record their own first win of the season. Saturdays fixture in London does look set to be a great encounter as both clubs here do have the potential to be promoted back to the Premiership, although which way it can go can all depend on the players on the day. Cardiff City are away from home midweek as well when they then have to travel to Blackburn Rovers in another tight clash.

Queens Park Rangers Team News:

There has been a lot of coming and going at Queens Park Rangers this summer which comes as no surprise as they look to reduce the wage bill after their relegation last season. Adel Taarabt, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Bobby Zamora are among the bigger names to depart the club while coming in their haven’t been any big names. Massimo Luongo from Swindon Town has been the more expensive sitting at £3 million. Charlie Austin rumours continue with the striker being constantly linked with a number of Premiership clubs.

Cardiff City Team News:

Cardiff City may have new rich owners yet they haven’t managed to spend a penny so far during this transfer window. Semi Ajayi joined from Arsenal on a free transfer while four other players have returned from season long loans. A lot of players have left the clubs via the free transfer option and the only player to have been sold being Kevin Theophile-Catherine to Saint-Etienne of France. David Marshall is not available for selection due to still serving a match suspension.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 19 games played out between these two clubs we have seen a total of 35 goals scored. This is going to give us a goals per game average of 1.8 which is obviously rather disappointing from a neutrals point of view. However in the last two games the two have played it does seem a lot more positive with seven being scored. The below option should be a good choice for Saturdays game.

Queens Park Rangers v Cardiff City Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Championship football is by far becoming a lot more popular over the last few years with it now being recognised as one of the toughest football leagues in the world. So many top teams come down and we as get promoted and the two Sky Sports 5 are showing in High Definition on Saturday have both witnessed the Premiership in recent years. Especially Queens Park Rangers who were last year relegated from the Premiership, something they are quite used to with it happening far too often in the last decade.

Queens Park Rangers didn’t start their season strong with a 2 -0 loss to Charlton Athletic, but did then manage a win over Yeovil Town in the Capital One Cup starting rounds. Cardiff City also won their first round tie in the Capital One Cup against AFC Wimbledon although didn’t enjoy the draw against Fulham with a late Craig Noone equalizer in the 86th minute. Both historic clubs here have the potential to get promoted back to the Premiership, although much needed improvement by both sides will be needed if they have any hope.

My predictions for Saturdays game between these two big clubs does in fact back both for a win, although obviously not at once! My first will be for both teams to score and for Queens Park Rangers to win, which with them being at home should be a good solid selection I feel. The next is for a correct scoreline of Cardiff City to win 2 – 1 after the ninety minutes. This does of course depend on how they defend which wasn’t too great against Fulham last weekend.
