Swansea City v Manchester City Preview, Premiership, Sunday 15th May 2016

Sunday afternoons 3pm kick-off certainly has some exciting games up on offer with each fixture having a major effect on the table for many of the leagues clubs. Here we have Swansea City hosting Manchester City in Wales with the away side coming into this game needing a win or a draw to be playing Champions League football next season. On paper it really should be a routine win for Manchester City who have failed to win a game in their last four fixtures in all competitions.

Swansea City themselves have been playing exceptional recently having recovered from loses to the relegated Newcastle United and Champions Leicester City. They bounced back with solid wins against Liverpool and West Ham United and if they play like they have in these last two games then we could see them potentially upset this Manchester City team. A win for Swansea City could see them finish just one spot higher in tenth although that would required Stoke City to either lose or draw their remaining game of the season.

Well we can safely say the month of May hasn’t been good for Manchester City who have seen themselves knocked out of the Champions League 1 – 0 on aggregate to Spanish side Real Madrid and also lose 4 – 2 to Southampton which came as a surprise. Last weekends fixture was against Arsenal in Manchester where City managed to throw away the lead twice to eventually draw the game two goals a piece, leaving Manchester City now in need of a win or draw to make sure they win Champions League football next season.

With Manchester City’s exceptional goal difference it does mean they only need to come away from Wales with a point although I am sure they will wish to win which will then pile on the pressure to Arsenal who shouldn’t have any issues really against bottom side Aston Villa. But with bitter rivals Manchester United close on the clubs tails just making sure the club don’t lose will be acceptable enough come Sunday.

Swansea City Team News:

I am actually quite upset to see Swansea City continuing to rest the clubs best players before they fly out to France to play in the EURO’s as I find it unfair and unprofessional to sides such as Manchester United who require Swansea City to actually win the game. Anyway Ashley Williams, Lukasz Fabianski, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Neil Taylor will no doubt miss the game as they continue to be rested ahead of the upcoming competition.

Alberto Paloschi and Jefferson Montero are both out due to a hamstring issue while Swedish stopper Kristiffer Nordfeldt is likely to make his Premier League debut.

Manchester City Team News:

Manchester City could still be without left back Aleksandar Kolarov with a muscular issue, although we have read he will be made to do a late fitness test to see if he becomes available. Still out is club captain Vincent Kompamy with a thigh strain while David Silva nurses his hamstring injury. Samir Nasri has appeared to of recovered from an illness and is available. Although Pablo Zabaleta is still missing due to a calf injury.

Swansea City v Manchester City Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five games played we have seen Manchester City completely dominate with fives easy wins over the years. In total we only have 13 games recorded in which we can see Manchester City end up on top with nine wins, one draw and just the three loses. The last time Swansea City won a game against Manchester City was back in 2012 when the game ended 1 – 0.

Swansea City v Manchester City Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premier League action this Sunday has some incredible games up on offer to watch live with this game in Wales no different. It features Swansea City who are in some great form, against Manchester City who themselves haven’t recently enjoyed their footballing results. This game can be viewed live via Sky Sports 2 and in High Definition and should be a cracker especially when looking at how many goals are often scored between these two sides.

Swansea City are resting a few players for the upcoming EURO’s in France, which I find is very unprofessional especially when there are other clubs requiring Swansea City to actually win this game come Sunday. They did manage to beat Liverpool and West Ham United in the clubs last two fixtures which when looking at it was a set of incredible results. A win for Swansea City could see them finish in tenth just above Stoke City who themselves face West Ham United at home, another fixture with one of the clubs having everything to play for with European spots up on offer.

Manchester City are hit and miss when it comes down to dealing with the pressure, and this game will be no different with them in a position of needing a point minimum to secure Champions League football for next season. They threw away the lead twice against Arsenal at home last weekend where as a win then would of seen them in a far better position coming into this game. A win on Sunday could see them finish in third, although I can’t see Arsenal losing at home to Aston Villa.

Three results recently have really hindered the clubs league progression with things starting to go bad when the drew away from home to the recently relegated Newcastle United. The club then bounced back with a great 4 – 0 win over Stoke City only to then lose heavily 4 – 2 to Southampton! On top of that they were also knocked out in the Champions League to Real Madrid which they could of won yet the players really didn’t look interested. The draw at home to Arsenal was definitely the cream on top as they could of won that yet threw it away on two occasions.

My predictions for this game are leaning more towards Manchester City winning the game, yet apart of me does feel in form Swansea City do have it in them to provide a massive shock to the blue side of Manchester. I am for my banker going to go what I feel should happen which is both teams to score and Manchester City to win the match. The other I am going for is a correct score guess of Swansea City to win 1 – 0. Now when looking at the statistics it is very out of character for both of these two clubs, yet I do feel nerves could have a part to play and we could end up potentially seeing Manchester City throw away their 4th place finish chance.
