Hull City v Wolves Preview, Championship, Friday 15th April 2016

Hull City head into this game knowing that a victory is vital if they are to keep hold of their 4th position in the league table and their end of season promotion play off place as with Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday both right behind them failure to win this game will only heap more pressure on the players as they enter the final few weeks of the season.

Wolves head into the game with nothing really to play for, they are safe from the threat of relegation and don’t have enough points to really be considered to qualify for an end of season promotion play off place, so I would expect the Wolves players to probably be concentrating more on their summer holiday plans that actually turning up with confidence of being able to win this game.

Hull City Team News(Courtesty of HullCityTigers.com):

The Tigers will be without Michael Dawson and Mohamed Diame for Friday night’s home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Dawson had to be taken off during last weekend’s draw at Huddersfield Town with a muscle problem and is likely to be out for three weeks while Diame has a thigh problem which is expected to sideline him for around ten days.

They join Nick Powell on the injured list. Steve Bruce will at least be able to welcome back Moses Odubajo after the right back served a one-match ban for his red card at Derby.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News (Courtesty of HullCityTigers.com):

Wolves will be without Michal Zyro after the striker was recently ruled out for up to a year with a serious knee injury. Nouha Dicko, Mike Williamson and Jordan Graham are also currently out of action.

Hull City v Wolverhampton Wanderers Head to Head Statistics:

Friday night’s game from the KC stadium will become the 12th meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Hull City have won 4 times with 3 of those victories having came with home advantage.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have managed to also win 4 times overall, but just 1 of those came away at the KC Stadium.

As we can see from our head to head to head statistics table shown below, recent meetings between the two clubs shows very little to seperate them with both having won a game each and the remaining three matches having finished all square.

16/08/15 CHA Wolves – Hull City

16/04/13 CHA Wolves – Hull City

06/11/12 CHA Hull City – Wolves 2 : 1

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

27 Goals have been scored in the previous 11 meetings between the two clubs and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 2.45.

16 of those Goals have came in the 5 previous matches played at the KC Stadium and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic of 3.20.

Based on both sets of data shown above this match should see at least a couple of goals scored on Friday night and betting markets like Both Teams to Score YES and Total Goals 2 or 3 look the value plays here.

Hull City v Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Betting Odds Market

Hull City head into this game as the clear odds on favourites, which does surprise me a little as their recent form has not been great at all and for me their current best price of 7/10 with Bet365 – Receive £200 Matched Bonus Bets when Registering a New Account, does look very much on the short side for a team who have won just one of their last five games.

The Draw has happened three times in the last five meetings played between the two clubs and this looks a very possible outcome in this match and at a current a best price of 16/5 with BetFred – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets for New Customers Registering an Account, this does look the value play for this game.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are unbeaten in their last five matches played and although they don’t really have anything to play for now this season their current best odds of 13/2 with BetVictor – Receive £50 Free Bets when Registering a New Account, do seem a little overpriced in my opinion.

Hull City v Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Hull City can move 10pts clear of seventh placed Cardiff City and that should be enough points to secure at least a place in the end of season promotion play offs. A win would also move them to within 7pts of second placed Burnley who currently occupy the final automatic promotion place, so I would expect Hull City to really give this game everything they have in an attempt to try and catch Burnley.

However, their current form at the moment is not very good at all and with just one victory in their last five matches played I have to be honest and say that I don’t really have that much confidence in the hosts, despite Wolves not really having anything to play for.

Onto some predictions then and my Banker Free Tip for this game is going to be for Wolves to hold Hull City to a Draw as with three draws between the two clubs in their last five meetings and Wolves having drawn four of their last five recent matches, everything does seem to point to this game finishing all square on Friday night.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip is going to be for Hull City’s Abel Hernandez to score the first goal of the game as with 17 goals this season to his name, 12 of those having been the 1st goal of the match, he looks the clear pick for this one.
