Hull City v Manchester City Preview, Premiership, Saturday 15th March 2014

Steve Bruce has not had a great managerial career so far but since he took charge of Hull City he has done a pretty good job and the signing of Nikica Jelavic from Everton and Shane long from West Brom has made a huge impact to the clubs results recently and with both players scoring at will and proving to be excellent buy’s by the manager this game might be closer than some people might think as these two players do look good enough to cause the Manchester City defence some problems.

Hull City soon to be Hull Tigers have had a bit of an up and down season so far but last weekend we saw them beat Sunderland to reach the semi final of the FA Cup which earns them a trip to Wembley and confidence will no dobut be high through out the whole squad, however with their last league encounter ending in a heavy 4-1 defeat away against Newcastle United, it will be interesting to see how the player respond in this one come saturday afternoon.

Manchester City were beaten over two legs in the Champions league by out of form Barcelona but Manuel Pellegrini’s side didn’t play too bad over the two legs and can count themselves a little unlucky not to have made it through to the quarter finals. They were also beaten in the FA Cup quarter finals last weekend where they got outplayed at home to Championship side Wigan Athletic who are the current holders of the FA Cup and that will obviously be a major worry for everyone involved as we begin to reach the crucial final couple of months of the season.

Manual Pellegrini and his Manchester City side have been scoring at will in the premier league this season notching an impressive sixty nine goals so far but the last few premier league games it has been a different story with Sergio Aguero and Negredo struggling for of late and ‘The Sky Blues’ have been relying more and more on their impressive midfield to get the all important goals with the supreme Yaya Toure firing on all cylinders.

Hull City Team News:

Steve Bruce will be delighted to welcome back Jelavic and Long for this game after they were both cup tied in the FA Cup win over Sunderland, but the hosts will be without midfielder Robbie Brady with a groin injury and defender Paul Mcshane who is still struggling to shake off a leg injury. Hull City have no players suspended for this game.

Manchester City Team News:

Fortunately Manchester City didn’t pick up any injuries in the midweek tie against Barcelona, which is one of the positives to come out of that match, but Defender Nastasic is still ruled out with a knee injury and hasn’t played since early February and Manchester City is Striker Stevan Jovetic is out with a hamstring injury. Manchester City have no players suspended for this game.

Hull City v Manchester City Head to Head Statistics:

Saturday afternoon’s game from the KC Stadium will become just the 6th meeting between the two clubs over the years and it is Manchester City who have bragging rights because they have won 2 (0 at the KC Stadium), drew 2 (1 at the KC Stadium), and have lost just once (1 at the KC Stadium).

Looking at the stats we can see Manchester City have not won on their travels to the KC Stadium so this should set us up for a very interesting game.

31/08/13 PRL Manchester City – Hull City 2 : 0
06/02/10 PRL Hull City – Manchester City 2 : 1
29/11/09 PRL Manchester City – Hull City
1 : 1
26/12/08 PRL Manchester City – Hull City 5 : 1
16/11/08 PRL Hull City – Manchester City
2 : 2

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

With a total of just five games played between the two clubs we have seen 17 goals scored, which provides us with an overall average of 3.4 goals per game.

There has been just the two games played between the two club at the KC Stadium which has seen 7 goals scored and provides us with an average of 3.5 goals per game.

Taking both average goals per game statistics into account the results suggests that we should see at least 3 or 4 scored during this game.

Hull City v Manchester City Recent Form (Left to Right)

Hull City: D W W L W

Manchester City: L W W L L

It’s not very often we see Manchester City’s form look this bad but with them losing to Barcelona twice and the shock result in the FA Cup to Championship side Wigan Athletic then this is the situation they are currently in.

Hull City’s recent form looks pretty good taking into account the teams they have gone up against. Steve Bruce’s side have managed 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat and having beaten Sunderland in the FA Cup last weekend the players and fans will be hopefull of putting up a good performance against the big spending Manchester City.

Hull City v Manchester City Match Betting Odds Market

Hull City are in good form going into this fixture and with their two main men back up front and eligible to play on Saturday then there is a slight chance that Hull City might be able to snatch a victory in front of their home fand and the current best price for the host’s to win this game is currently a huge 11/2 with Bet365 (£200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers) and for me this is a huge price considering they are the home team and have not lost against Manchester City at the KC Stadium.

The Draw is a massive possibility for me taking into account that Hull City have scored more goals at their home ground than Man City have in the past and with City’s strikers out of form at the moment I see this as good value for money with the best odds currently at 7/2 with Stan James (£10 Free Bets for New Customers).

Manchester City may be in a terrible run of form of late and their strikers are struggling to score but the bookmakers don’t seem to think this will make a difference come Saturday afternoon and currently have the visitors priced up as the clear favourites to win this game with the best odds of 4/7 with BetVictor (£25 Free Bets for New Customers).

Hull City v Manchester City Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

So we come to the bit I have been waiting for which is the predictions for this preview and with Manchester City out of form at the moment many people would probably be predicting Hull City to snatch something from this game.

However I am not one of those people as I will be predicting Manchester City to Win this game without reply as my banker for this game which i believe is great value at the current odds available as their defence has been very tough to breach in a lot of their Premiership games this season and Hull City really would have to be at their very best to score in this game I feel.

Sergio Aguero has not scored for a few games and so it suggests that the Argentinian hitman is due a goal in this one if he passes a late fitness test, but with him not 100% to start this game then Negredo looks the man to be on here to score the first goal and put City on course for another important 3pts.

For those that don’t really fancy Negredo to score the first goal of the game, then maybe the Over 2.5 Goals could see some additional profit made as with the average goals per game stats suggesting this match to see at least 3 or 4 scored on saturday afternoon, this prediction could see you collecting before the half-time whistle.
