Barcelona v Levante Preview, Primera La Liga, Sunday 15th February 2015

This Sunday we could see Barcelona make it their eleventh win on the trot if they, as expected, defeat Levante at the Nou Camp. Their last fixture see themselves setup a good advantage over Villarreal in the Copa del Rey with a 3 – 1 victory. Goals came from Lionel Messi, Iniesta  and defender Pique although Trigueros did manage to equalize just after half time, yet sadly for Villarreal Iniesta restored the lead one minute later. Barcelona have closed the gap on Real Madrid to just one point now, with them losing heavily away from home to Atletico Madrid 4 – 0. Although I can’t really see Real Madrid dropping any points in the next five league fixtures, as after that we then see the big one when Barcelona visit Real Madrid in hope to retake the top of the league.

Levante were but recently bottom of the division, yet a rare 4 – 1 massacre over Malaga see them climb up into eighteenth, just one point away from being outside of the drop zone. This Sunday however will no doubt see them drop back down depending on Cordoba and Granada’s results yet could be restored the week after when they play Granada at home. Levante I feel are still one of the favourites to go down come the end of the season, especially unless they can manage to dig deep and come up with something extremely special in the remaining games. Malaga managed to knock out Levante in the Cope del Rey when the game ended 4 – 3 on aggregate, and it comes as no surprise that Levante got much joy out of their recent win.

Barcelona Team News:

Barcelona are without three players for this game on Sunday, with the usual Thomas Vermaelen being one of the names with his hamstring. Brazilian Douglas Pereira is also still ruled out with his thigh strain and this time we also see fullback Dani Alves out due to a suspension after five yellow cards.

Levante Team News:

Levante are missing a lot more key players than their opponents, with Ivanschitz (hamstring), El Zhar (hamstring), Diop (virus), Sissoka (unknown) and Ivan (unknown) all out of action. We also have Victor Camarasa missing due to a suspension after reaching a five yellow card limit.

Barcelona v Levante Head to Head Statistics:

Barcelona have dominated the last five head to head fixtures with four wins and a 1 – 1 draw last season. In total we only have 17 games recorded between these two clubs, with Levante never winning a single game against Barcelona. Barcelona however have won 13 and managed to drop points on 4 occasions when they drew.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 17 games we have recorded between the two clubs we have accumulated a total of 62 goals in total, with 51 of these goals scored by Barcelona alone. This is going to give us an average of 3.6 goals per game, which is never going to be the case when looking at the above results. I would feel safer going with a 4+ goals seen in the game.

Barcelona v Levante Recent Form (Left to Right)

Barcelona: W W W W W

Levante: W L L L W

As expected we do see Barcelona completely the better side in form here with them winning all of their last ten games in all competitions. Levante have only won one of their last five La Liga games with the others being three loses and a draw. Barcelona will no doubt make Sunday their eleventh win in a row as I can’t seriously believe Levante can overturn Barcelona with them on their current run.

Barcelona v Levante Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Primera La Liga action this Sunday will no doubt see this Barcelona side completely dominate and hammer the dismal Levante even though they did manage a rare win in their last game. The game can be seen live on Sky Sports 5 High Definition and also at the special stadium, the Nou Camp.

Barcelona are in incredible form right now having won all ten of their last ten fixtures in all competitions, with their last loss way back against David Moyes side, Real Sociedad. Levante also managed to win in their last game, which actually see them climb off of the bottom into eighteenth. Yet could slip back down depending on other results over the weekend. In their last five La Liga games played they have won and drawn one, while also losing the other three.

My predictions for this Sundays game will of course back Barcelona in both outcomes and while I do fancy a correct score guess I do feel that option could very well be dangerous. I did back Suarez to score in my last prediction, which did come good for me even though he didn’t manage to find the net against Villarreal. So this time round I am going to go all out and back Luiz Suarez to score two or more goals. They next will be for Barcelona to win by four or more goals which I feel has more than enough merit in it.
