Barcelona v Rayo Vallecano Preview, Primera La Liga, Saturday 15th February 2014

An eventful week for Barcelona which see them through to the next round of the Copa del Rey after beating Real Sociedad 3 – 1 on aggregate. Truth be told the Spanish Champions haven’t looked too convincing recently even though they did manage to battle out some much needed results and now sit top of the La Liga. After going 1 – 0 down to Sevilla last Sunday they then had to kick start their potential and eventually won the game 4 – 1 which gave them the points they needed to stay level points with both Madrid clubs.

Rayo Vallecano may of won last Saturday which has allowed them some hope that they may climb out of the relegation zone, but they are still in need of 4 points before they can even catch Granada. After their predicted hammering by Barcelona they then have another three tough games where they host Sevilla and Valencia at home and then pay visit to Real Sociedad. With those three teams all hoping to grab some points in a bid for Champions League action next year you can’t help but wonder if Rayo Vallecano get to earn any points in the coming games.

Barcelona v Rayo Vallecano Team News

Barcelona have a trio of injuries for their upcoming game on Saturday with the young Brazilian Neymar top of the list with a sprained ankle. Next we have Oier with a bruised thumb and then Jonathan dos Santos who is out with crucial knee ligaments.

Rayo Vallecano are in serious need of some players coming back from injury, they currently have five players sidelined which isn’t helping their battle to steer clear from relegation. With Jonathan Viera(unknown), Galvez(thigh), Alberto Perea(ankle) and Jose Carlos(knee) all representing the Spanish side of the injury bench we are then left with Sebastian Fernandez(crucial knee ligaments) finished the list of those unavailable. Also to note is Nacho Martinez who is currently serving a suspension.

Barcelona v Rayo Vallecano Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

With everything taken into account I can seriously see Barcelona scoring a hat-full of goals come Saturday evening. It will be a great game for any neutral to watch if you are looking at watching some exciting attacking football by Barcelona and some frantic defending by the away side.

Rayo Vallecano will pay visit to Barcelona on Saturday evening and I can imagine them defending deep with eleven men behind the ball at all times. I often wonder if Rayo Vallecano will get any chances with them focusing too much on keeping out Barcelona’s attacking threats.

So lets get down to some predictions for Saturdays game, obviously it will be a Barcelona win and I can imagine it being a total thrashing with plenty of easy goals scored on the day. So obviously we can imagine Messi scoring but the odds on that wont be the best and will offer very little return. So I am going for a Cesc Fabregas goal and for Barcelona to win which is giving us some nice odds.
