Southampton v West Ham United Preview, Premiership, Sunday 15th September 2013

Southampton have started the season well with an opening win over West Brom and then a draw against Sunderland before they finally lost 1 – 0 away to Norwich at the end of August, but also during their travels they managed to beat Barnsley away from home in an epic 5 – 1 battle which see four different Southampton scorers including Davis who notched up a brace.

West Ham United also started the season off with a flying start with a comfortable win at home to Premiership new boys Cardiff City, and with the draw away to Newcastle United it was looking promising before the game at home to Stoke City in which they lost 1 – 0. On top of that they did manage to secure a spot into the Capital One Cup Third Round after beating Cheltenham 2 goals to 1.

Southampton v West Ham United Team News

Southampton Team News:

With confidence high for Southampton striker Rickie Lambert after his antics for England last week, he is still not promised a guaranteed start against West Ham on Sunday. Lambert is flying with England having scored two goals in two games but I can still see manager Mauricio Pochettino playing Dani Osvaldo up front instead.

West Ham United Team News:

Its been a horrid weak for West Ham United fans after finding out Andy Carroll could be out of action for a year due to a new injury to his Achilles, but recent news does indicate that it could not be as bad as first thought but it is still a huge setback for the England striker and Sam Allardyce who has said the injury is devastating to West Ham’s future plans.

Southampton v West Ham United Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

With the form pretty equal I would of thought this match would be a tough call to predict, and with Rickie Lambert possibly not starting it leaves slight pressure on new signing Osvaldo, but that said Southampton are a very good footballing side and I can see them nicking the result after a very hard well fought out 90 minutes between these two clubs. So I am going for a 2 – 1 Southampton victory for Sunday’s match.

Osvaldo has got to have a goal coming soon so instead of hoping Lambert will be playing I think I will go for an anytime Osvaldo goal as my 2nd prediction.
