Slovenia v England Preview, Euro 2016 Qualification, Sunday 14th June 2015

Slovenia head into this game currently in second position in the group table on 9pts, having won 3 and lost 2 of their opening five matches played so far. A victory on Sunday evening for the hosts would move them within 3pts of group leaders England and more importantly keep them in second place of the group despite Switzerland winning away against Lithuania.

England head into the game as the only team unbeaten in the group so far and although they didn’t look anywhere close to their best when only managing a 0-0 draw in the friendly International match against the Republic of Ireland last weekend, I would expect manager Roy Hodgson’s side to play much better in this game on Sunday evening and having already beaten Slovenia 3-1 at Wembley back on the 15th of November last year, the players and fans will be confident of returning home with the maximum points.

Slovenia Team News:

No major injury concerns for the hosts and they look likely to start this game with the same players that lost 3-1 against England at Wembley back on the 15th of November. The only change that might happen is Jan Oblak could replace first choice goal keeper Samir Handanovic having been in impressive form for his club Atletico Madrid this season.

England Team News:

Daniel Sturridge and Danny Welbeck are both unavailable for the visitors as they continue to receive treatment for respective injury related problems. Fabian Delph does look likely to return to the starting lineup though having missed the 0-0 draw last weekend against the Republic of Ireland with knock.

Jack Wilshere could also be handed a start with James Milner looking likely to start on the bench. Phil Jones will probably remain in the right back position unless Nathaniel Clyne is given the nod by manager Roy Hodgson and Theo Walcott and Wayne Rooney will likely lead the attack up front.

Slovenia v England Head to Head Statistics:

Sunday evening’s game from the Stadion Stožice in Ljubljana will become only the 4th meeting between the two countries over the years and as we can see from our head to head statistics table below it has been England who have dominated recent proceedings having won all four matches.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

8 Goals have been scored in the previous 3 matches played between the two nations over the years and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 2.66 and would suggest that this game should see at least 2 goals scored on Sunday evening.

Slovenia v England Match Betting Odds Market

Slovenia have failed to win in any of their previous three matches against England and their current best price of 19/5 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets plus an addition £5 & also get 10 Free Spins does seem to reflect their chances of making it fourth time lucky.

The Draw has not happened in any of the three previous encounters between the two sides, but is probably the best result that Slovenia could manage in this game on Sunday night, so it might be worth getting something on this one finishing all square at a current best price of 13/5 with Betfred – Bet £10 Get £30 Free Bets for New Registering Accounts

England are the clear favourites to win this game on Sunday night with a current best price of  23/20 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets plus an addition £5 & also get 10 Free Spins, but Roy Hodgson’s side would need to play a lot better than they did last weekend in the 0-0 match against Repulic of Irleand.

Slovenia v England Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Slovenia will see this as a game they could get something from having seen England struggle to a 0-0 draw last weekend against the Republic of Ireland and with home advantage and a packed out crowd fully behind them I do believe that Sreko Katanec’s side could come away with an important point on Sunday night if England put in a similar display like they did last weekend.

Theo Walcott and Wayne Rooney will most likely lead the attack up front for England with Raheem Sterling, Jack Wilshere, Jordan Henderson and Fabian Delph providing the support in behind and this does look a strong enough midfield to keep Walcott and Rooney supplied with chances that will enable Roy Hodgson’s side to score goals in this game.

However, I would of probably preferred Ross Barkley involved rather than Raheem Sterling as the want away Liverpool player does seem like he is suffering from plenty on his mind at the moment and the consistent boo’s that emanated from the England fans last weekend in the game against the Republic of Ireland would certainly of not done his confidence any good at all and Barkley would seem to be the more sensible choice as a result, although we should see the Everton youngster at some point during this game I believe.

The average goals per game statistics are expecting this match to see a minimum of at least 2 goals scored and it certainly wouldn’t surprise me to see the same score line of 3-1 that the two nations played out back in November last year at Wembley as although Slovenia might get one goal on Sunday evening, unless England play like they did against the Republic of Irleand last weekend, the visitors should easily win this game in comfortable fashion.

My Banker Prediction for this game is going to be for England to Win as although they are slightly odds on to win this game, I do think that the odds available from BetVictor do provide value in what I believe should be a comfortable victory.

My Saver is going to be for Both Teams to Score & England to Win as like previously mentioned, Slovenia could get one goal in this game, especially having home advantage, but I would still expect England to return home with the maximum points when all is said and done.
