Wolverhampton Wanderers v Brighton Hove Albion Preview, Championship, 14th April 2017

Wolves head into this game having had a difficult season so far and currenly occupy 15th position on 51pts in the league table having secured 14 wins, 9 draws and 17 defeats from their 40 matches played.

The hosts were on a good run of form recently until their latest 3-1 defeat away against Bristol City and although the club are 11pts clear from the relegation battle below them, they still require at least another 9pts to absoloutely guarantee they will be playing championship football next season.

Brighton head into the game having had a great season so far and currently lead the way at the top of the league table on 86pts having secured 26 wins, 8 draws and 7 defeats from their 41 matches played.

The visitors have won their last three matches on the bounce and will see this game as a real chance to secure another 3pts which would protect their lead at the top. However a defeat or draw in this game could see second place Newcastle United go above them if they win their match at home against Leeds United later in the evening kick offs.

Carl Ikeme remains an injury doubt for Wolves after failing to shake off a hamstring injury. The goalkeeper has missed the last three games after sustaining the injury on international duty, and has not recovered as quickly as expected.

Andy Lonergan will continue his duties in goal, while there is positive news about winger Helder Costa, who is expected to feature in some capacity after injuring himself during a warm-up. Joe Mason and Connor Ronan remain out with hernia and back injuries respectively.

Brighton manager Chris Hughton has a near full strength squad to choose from as his side look to seal promotion to the Premier League. Central defenders Shane Duffy (foot) and Connor Goldson (heart condition) are the only long-term absentees for the Seagulls.

Gaetan Bong, Liam Rosenior and Beram Kayal are all available after being rested for last week’s win over QPR at Loftus Road. Forward Jamie Murphy will be hoping to claim a place in the starting XI after coming on as a substitute in the last three games.

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Brighton & Hove Albion Head to Head Statistics:

Friday night’s game from Molineux Stadium will become the 20th meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Wolves have managed to win 3 times overall, with just 1 of those victories having came with home advantage.

Brighton have managed to secure 9 wins overall, with 3 of those victories recorded away from home and with the visitors having won their last three games on the bounce, they certainly look the more likely winners of this one.

As we can see from our head to head to head statistics table shown below, recent meetings between the two clubs shows neither club with any real advantage on the recent form statistics with both having won a game each and the remaining three matches having finished all square.

41 Goals have been scored in the previous 19 meetings between the two clubs and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 2.16.

20 of those Goals have been scored in the previous 9 matches played between the two clubs at Molineux Stadium and this provides us with an average goals per game statistic of 2.22.

Based on both sets of data shown above, it does seem to suggest that this game should see a least a few of goals scored in this game on Friday night and as such Total Goals 2 or 3 looks a good choice here.

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Brighton & Hove Albion Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Wolves are far from safe of becoming involved in the relegation battle for survival, but 3pts from this game would go a long way towards securing their future in the championship for next season.

However, they face a difficult test against league leaders Brighton who are in great form at the moment and from an overall statistic point of view the visitors do seem to be the team with the advantage for this one.

Onto some predictions then and my Banker Free Tip for this game is going to be for Both Teams to Score & Brighton Hove Albion to Win as with previous matches having been quite close, I can see this game being a more open attacking game of football as a draw doesn’t really do either side any good.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip is going to be for Brighton Hove Albion striker Idrissa Sylla to score the first goal of this game as he is currently the top goalscorer for his club this season with 8 and looks a good choice to be on here at what are once again great odds on offer.
