Juventus v Monaco Preview, Champions League, Tuesday 14th April 2015.

Italian Champions Juventus come into this Champions League Quarter Final 1st Leg bout on the back of a rare domestic defeat when they were beaten by Parma 1 – 0. It marked their second league defeat all season and in no way has done any harm to their domination of the Serie A. They are currently twelve points clear of closest challengers Lazio and with only eight games remaining should only need thirteen points to once again retain their dominance over the Italian domestic league, and that will of course also depend on Lazio winning all of their remaining league fixtures.

Monaco have done well in recent months and have now found themselves again fighting for a chance to win the French Ligue 1. Monaco have six games remaining which is one less than PSG and Lyon who are both ahead of them in the table. They are still four points behind league leaders PSG, yet do have an easier run in to the end of the season and have every chance of upsetting their rivals as the pressure starts to build. If they finish as they are they will have a chance to play in the Champions League next season, yet will need to go via the qualifying stages. They cannot however start letting things slip, as the top six are so close together with only eight points keeping them apart.

Juventus Team News:

Juventus will be without French midfielder Paul Pogba due to a hamstring injury, and the ex Manchester United youngster will not feature in the second leg either with the injury likely to force him out for a few weeks yet. Carlos Tevez is in some incredible form right now having scored 17 Serie A goals and 6 Champions League efforts and is no doubt favourite to score again come Tuesday night.

Monaco Team News:

Monaco midfielder Jeremy Toulalan was a doubt for the game against Juventus, yet has managed to pass a fitness test and looks likely to start on Tuesday night. Monaco haven’t scored far too many goals this season which begs the question of how are they doing so well in the league. Berbatov and Martial have scored seven goals each while midfielder Bernardo Silva has scored five.

Juventus v Monaco Head to Head Statistics

Juventus and Monaco have met twice in Europe before hand and came back in the 1997/1998 season in the semi-finals. Juventus were eventual winners with a 6 – 4 aggregate and are once again favourites for the win come Tuesday night, having never lost at home to a French opponent.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

With only the two games played out between the two European talents we have seen a total of ten goals scored. This is going to give us a very high goals per game average of 5, which is something I wouldn’t bank on when the two meet this Tuesday. The below option could be something a little more realistic.

Juventus v Monaco Form (Left to Right)

Juventus: L W W W W

Monaco: W D D W L

Juventus are in exceptional form and have been all season long. They may have lost their recent Serie A fixture, yet it only makes it the second league loss all season which is an incredible feat on its own. Monaco have been in better form themselves recently and are now contenders to win the French League, even though they are four points adrift.

Juventus v Monaco Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Champions League action on Tuesday night comes to us live on Sky Sports 1 High Definition and features Juventus verses Monaco in Italy. We can see it is clearly Juventus who are the favourites to win here and with no French side winning against the Italian giants ever the chances are being seen as very slim by all your favourite online bookmakers. Monaco however are also seen as extremely unpredictable so be wary of them managing something much like what we see when they paid visit to London when they beat Arsenal at The Emirates.

Both clubs are in good form right now, although it must be said it is Juventus who are clearly the better team on paper and overall. The Italians always seem to be a disappointment when it comes down to the Champions League, and we can only hope it is this year that that some of that dominance away from the Spanish and Germans. Juventus are seen as the favourites to win over both legs and I can imagine the semi final draw will be plenty full of excitement.

My predictions for this Champions League 1st leg clash will see Juventus win with ease on the night, and plan to go for a correct scoreline of Juventus to win 2 – 0 on the night. The next I am going for is for Monaco to grab an away goal, giving them some hope when they welcome Juventus to Monaco for the 2ng leg. For that I plan to take both teams to score yet once again for Juventus to win on the night.
