Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid Preview, Champions League, Tuesday 14th April 2015

Atletico Madrid head into this game having had a good season so far and after beating German side Bayer Leverkusen in the last round on a penalty shoot-out the whole squad will be looking forward to this game and confident that they can once again achieve the right result.

Real Madrid squeezed through 5-4 on aggregate in their game in the last round against German side Schalke 04 but the players will be fully aware that this is going to be another tough game as their hosts have already managed to beat them 4-0 in the league this season which came at the Estadio Vicente Calderon and Ronaldo and Co will need to be a lot better this time around if they are to avoid being dumped out of the tournament.

Atletico Madrid Team News:

The hosts are almost at full strength but will be missing striker Mario Mandzukic as he continues to receive treatment for an ankle injury. Antoine Griezmann will lead the attack up front alongside Fernando Torres with support in behind being provided by Gabi and Tiago.

Real Madrid Team News:

The visitors will field a strong starting lineup for this game after manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed that Gareth Bale has now fully recovered from a foot injury and is expected to play and with Pepe now also back involved having had time off recently with his own injury the visitors will most likely go with Ronaldo, Benzema and Bale as their attacking options.

Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid Head to Head Statistics

Tuesday night’s 1st Leg match from the Estadio Vicente Calderon will become the 51st meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Atletico Madrid have won 8 times, 4 coming with home advantage and Real Madrid have won 30 times, 15 of those wins having came at the Estadio Vicente Calderon.

However, as we look at the recent 5 matches played between the two sides over recent season’s we see that it has been Atletico Madrid who have been the dominate force having won an impressive 4 and drawing the other game and this leaves Real Madrid having failed to win any of those previous 5 games.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

147 Goals have been scored in the previous 50 games played between the two clubs over the years and this provides us with an average goals per game statistic of 2.94.

68 of those Goals have been scored in the previous 24 matched played between the two sides at the Estadio Vicente Calderon and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic for this match of 2.83.

Both sets of data seem to suggest that we should see a minimum of at least 3 goals scored in this game on Tuesday night and the Over 2.5 Goals Market looks particularly appealing at decent odds.

Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid Match Betting Odds Market

Atletico Madrid are currently priced up at a best price of 9/5 with Betfred – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets for New Customers Registering an Account which does look great value considering their results against Real Madrid recently and that they have home advantage.

The Draw has only happened once in the last five meetings and it would surprise me to see this game finish all square on Tuesday night, but if it does you can enjoy a current best price of 23/10 with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers.

Real Madrid are currently priced up as the clear favourites to win this game at odds of 7/4 with Betfred – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets for New Customers but this does surprise me considering they have lost four of the last five matches against their hosts.

Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Real Madrid will definitely be looking to make amends in this game having suffered yet another embarrassing defeat this season against Atletico Madrid and their cause has taken a major boost with news that Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic will not feature in this first leg due to injury.

The visitors certainly have the stronger squad in my opinion, but their failure to keep sides out at the back is an ongoing problem as we saw in the second leg of the last round against Schalke when they shipped 4 goals and with this Atletico Madrid side having the likes of Griezmann and Torres  I can certainly see the hosts scoring at least a couple in this game.

The average goals per game statistics are expecting this match to see plenty of goals and with the talent on show it would be crazy to think otherwise and as such my Banker prediction for this game will be Both Teams to Score & Atletico Madrid to Win.

My Saver will be Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmman to Score at Anytime as I feel he should bang in at least one during the 90mins.
