Arsenal v Leicester City Preview, Premiership, Sunday 14th February 2016.

It’s starting to be the usual thing for Arsenal to let slip and start to throw away the best chance they have had in years since fighting for the title. One minute they are top of the league and looking favourites to win it with Chelsea out of the picture, then a few bad results see’s them now five points behind Leicester City and in third behind rivals Tottenham Hotspurs, which as you can imagine will be damaging for the club and its fans.

After a win last weekend away from home to Bournemouth we could be seeing Arsenal start to make a come back especially if they manage to beat Sundays opponents Leicester at the Emirates, reducing the gap to just two points. That said the pressure is purely on Arsene Wenger and his Arsenal side as underdogs Leicester City are not expected to win the league, or even be as high as they are currently.

Leicester City have continued to shock the English League, critics and worldwide supporters as they currently come into this fixture five points in front of closest challengers Tottenham Hotspurs and Arsenal who are currently on joint points. You then have Manchester City, a side who have won the title before only a further one point behind them. It’s an incredible achievement from a club who at one point came close to being relegated last season.

Arsenal must be aware of Leicester City’s dominance over Manchester City in their last game, having embarrassed the Manchester club at the Etihad three goals to one. Before that they also beat Liverpool and Stoke City at home, another two results which would of usually been hard to most sides yet Leicester went into the game with no fear and continue leading the pack at the top of the table.

Arsenal Team News:

Arsene Wenger can go into this game needing not to change his previous winning side as no fresh injury concerns have hit the club. It is great to see Danny Welbeck back in training after a long absence with a serious knee problem, although Arsenal are still missing the likes of Santo Cazorla (knee), Jack Wilshere (leg) and Tomas Rosicky (thigh) with no new news of their potential return.

Leicester City Team News:

Leicester City’s new signing Daniel Amartey will need to wait to make his impact in midfield, with him not selected for Sundays game against Arsenal. A hamstring injury has seen Jeff Schlupp sidelined since the start of December, yet some positive news in regards to Matty James who is close to a complete recovery from a knee injury.

Arsenal v Leicester City Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five fixtures played we have seen Arsenal as the better team with three wins and two draws. Arsenal also come out on top when we look at the 95 games played in total. The London club have won on 46 occasions while losing just 18. Leaving the other 31 games ending as draws of some sort.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 95 games played out between the two clubs we have seen a total of 321 goals scored over the years, and this is going to give us a goals per game average of close to 3.4 which does seem a little off apart from the last game played last year. Looking at the other four previous games there is usually two to three goals scored so the below selection would be my choice.

Leicester City: W W W L D

Both clubs have been exceptional this season yet more so is this Leicester City side who as stated, seem to have shocked the world of football with their current league position in question. On paper it is also Leicester City who are in the better form right now having won three of their last five games. Although Arsenal are at home and the bookies favourites.

Arsenal v Leicester City Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premiership action on Sunday can be seen live on Sky Sports 1 High Definition and features Arsenal at home against league leaders Leicester City. Arsenal will be fighting for that win to reduce the current five point lead their opponents have and put themselves back into contention to with the Premier League come the end of the season. It’s been some time since Arsenal won the league and this year is certainly their best chance of winning it again with every other title contender not playing at their best. Chelsea are of course no where near winning the league and are sitting closer to the relegation battle than they are to the top four.

Leicester City however I hope continue in their dominance this season and I as a neutral would love to see them win it come the end of the season ahead of the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal. Especially with them coming so close to being relegated last season it’s great to see just how well this side have done under the Tinker Man. Having beaten Manchester City away from home last weekend the fans and critics are questioning if they have it in their locker to repeat that winning form against Arsenal at The Emirates Sunday lunchtime.

My predictions for this game does tend to lean more towards the draw in hopes of Leicester City actually coming away with something from this game, and thus keeping Arsenal at a five point gap distance. However if Tottenham Hotspurs win this weekend then they could eventually catch them up. but then we also need to consider seriously if Spurs could also win the league? Anyway I am going for both teams to score and the DRAW as my banker bet. With my next being Arsenal to win the game 2 – 1 on the day as a correct score prediction.
