Crystal Palace v Liverpool Preview, FA Cup, Saturday 14th February 2015

Crystal Palace are enjoying a good run since the arrival of Alan Pardew as manager, their last match saw them come from behind to earn a point in the league against Newcastle United. With Crystal Palace currently in 13th place in the Premier League and performing well in front of goal I think they will be safe for another season and therefore can field a strong side on Saturday Evening and focus on getting as far as they can in the FA Cup. I expect Bolasie and Zaha to be the danger men for Palace as they can really exploit Liverpool’s three centre backs with their pace and skill.

Liverpool fans will be pleased that their side haven’t lost in 90 minutes in over ten games now and are playing some good football. With Daniel Sturridge returning to the team and Mario Balotelli finally finding the back of the net it seems that Liverpool fans have got something to cheer about after a terrible opening half of the season. With Chelsea and Manchester City both out of this competition, I think Brendan Rodgers will play his strongest team in attempt to win a trophy this season.

Crystal Palace Team News:

Manager Alan Pardew has as many as seven players out for this 5th round FA Cup tie. Joe Ledley and Scott Dann will face late fitness tests to see if they can feature. Yaya Sanogo, Captain Miles Jedinak, James McArthur, Thomas and Williams will all be out with respective injuries but are expected to return by the end of the month.

Liverpool Team News:

Manager Brendan Rogers will be without the services of Raheem Sterling, Jon Flanagan, Brad Jones and Lucas Leiva all of which have no return date from their injuries. Daniel Sturridge should start and could play alongside Mario Balotelli. I expect Ibe to be given another start after his recent impressive performances in a Liverpool shirt.

Crystal Palace v Liverpool Recent Form (Left to Right)

Crystal Palace: D W L W W

Liverpool: W D W W L

These two sides have had matching form in their last five games with both teams winning 3 from their last 5 along with a draw and a defeat which indicates that is going to be a close fought battle for a place in the next round of the FA Cup. Will the two teams cancel each other out on Saturday Evening?

Crystal Palace v Liverpool Match Betting Odds Market

Crystal Palace have been in quite good form lately but they face a tough test on Saturday Evening against a Liverpool side that will be desperate for the win as it is their best chance of Silverware for the season. I think Palace can cause an upset with the backing of their home fans. Bet365 offer the best price for Palace to win @ 14/5 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers.

The Draw did happen at Selhurst pack in one of the last two meetings between the two sides so that could be on the card, with the attacking quality that both teams possess I expect to see goals in this game so I recommend covering the scored draw. BetVictor provide the best value for the draw @ 13/5 – £25 Free Bets for New Customers.

Liverpool do have the stronger squad on paper, but with no Raheem Sterling they might struggle to trouble Palace although if Sturridge, Coutinho and Gerrard are in the side I think they will create plenty of chances for the away team. PaddyPower offer the best odds for Liverpool to win @ 11/10 – £50 Free Bets for New Customers.

Crystal Palace v Liverpool Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Both sides will be desperate to win this game on Saturday Evening and progress into the next stage of the competition so I expect to see both sides play with a lot of passion leading to bookings and goals for both teams.

Crystal Palace look likely to finish mid-table in the Premier League and therefore will be hoping they can add some silverware through the FA Cup whereas Liverpool still have it all to play for in their quest to finish in the top four and have the knockout stages of the Europa League still to compete in this season.

The average goals per game statistics are expecting this match to see at least 3 goals which I expect to be fulfilled considering both teams have struggled to keep clean sheets this season and both teams have scored in the last four meetings between these two sides.

My Banker is going to be Liverpool to win this game as they showed real character against Spurs last time out and that win can only encourage the players, especially Mario Balotelli who scored his second goal of the season.

My Saver is going to be both teams to score and Liverpool to Win as I do feel that Palace can get one goal during this game as the Liverpool defence is far from impenetrable and Palace do save their best performances when playing in front of their home fans.
