Tottenham Hotspur v West Bromwich Albion Preview, Premiership, Saturday 14th January 2017.

Tottenham Hotspurs continue with their excellent run of form having now won six on the trot. This will mark the third game in a row they have played at White Hart Lane after recently beating Chelsea and now Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round. Depending on the Liverpool verse Manchester United result on Sunday we could see the home side head up into second position in the Premiership. Liverpool would need to win at Old Trafford to keep hold of that position.

Spurs will need to take into account that West Bromwich Albion have been a pretty good side up until recently where they were just knocked out of the FA Cup 3rd round against Championship side Derby County. That said before last year ended the away side were doing better than expected while beating the likes of Leicester City, Watford and Burnley. Tottenham Hotspurs are the favourites as expected and I can’t see them struggling to much against the visitors.

West Bromwich Albion started the year well with a win over the bottom of the league Hull City. They couldn’t capitalize on that win in the FA Cup however with them now out of the FA Cup and League cup competitions. Loses against Arsenal and Manchester United, as well as the win at the end of December against Southampton complete the clubs last five games.

A win against Spurs away from home is seen as very unlikely, but if they do it could trigger some good results coming up for the club. Sunderland and Stoke City at home should be routine wins while away fixtures to Middlesbrough and West Ham United are always possibilities. I feel the club have the potential to at least earn around ten points from the fifth-teen up for grabs in the next five fixtures to be played.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News:

Erik Lamela is still out with a hip injury and that is all Tottenham Hotspurs have to worry about right now when it comes down to players missing. Pochettino welcomes back a number of first team players who were all rested for the victory over Aston Villa in the FA Cup 3rd round.

West Bromwich Albion Team News:

Sadly for West Bromwich Albion they are still without defender Jonny Evans as he continues to struggle with a calf injury. Chris Brunt and Jonathan Leko are awaiting fitness tests and striker Saido Berahino misses out due to not being fit.

Tottenham Hotspur v West Bromwich Albion Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five head to head encounters I am actually surprised with the results. Both have earned draws from three while also winning the once each back in the 2014/15 season. In total they have met on 113 occasions with it rather equal in terms of wins. Spurs come out just in front with 43 victories while West Bromwich Albion have recorded 41. Leaving a total of 29 draws.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 113 games played out we have seen a total of 332 goals scored which is going to give us a goals per game average of 2.9 which has only been seen the once in the last five games played against each other. I’d be more inclined to go with the below option for Saturday lunchtimes game especially when looking at the last three games played against each other.

West Bromwich Albion: L W W L L

Tottenham Hotspurs are in far better form right now and after winning six on the trot making it a seventh could send them second in the league. West Bromwich Albion were doing okay at the end of last year and did even start 2017 off with a win. but a loss against Derby County in the FA Cup now sees them knocked out of the competition.

West Bromwich Albion have beaten their hosts in the recent past and I am sure it is always a possibility that it can happen again. Tottenham Hotspur v West Bromwich Albion Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premier league action once again this weekend after we’ve had a small break with the FA Cup and League Cup fixtures. This game in London can be viewed live via Sky Sports 1 and in high definition and features Tottenham Hotspurs verses West Bromwich Albion. Spurs managed to beat Championship side Aston Villa last weekend in the FA Cup, while West Bromwich Albion see defeat to Derby County, also of the Championships.

Tottenham Hotspurs could make this a seventh win in a row and the likelihood of that happening against West Bromwich Albion is very high, especially when you look at both clubs recent run of form. Spur’s last defeat came away from home to Manchester United in December and they have since them dominated and even beaten the likes of league leaders Chelsea, who before that defeat looked likely to continue breaking away leaving a massive gap.

West Bromwich Albion are doing far better than expected with them currently sitting in eight position in the Premier League table. A win however unlikely against Tottenham Hotspurs, could see them overtake Everton into seventh, but the odds on them doing so are extremely high while seen above. With this game out of the way however we could see the visitors going on a winning run with Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Stoke City and West Ham United all beatable.

My predictions for this game do see the home side run out winners on the day and I dont particularly think its going to be a tough game for Spurs. There is goals in this game and although I see Tottenham Hotspurs winning I do also see the potential of an away game. For the I am going to go for both teams to score and Spurs to win as my banker. The next I am going for is Dele Alli to score anytime during the match, as I just feel the midfielder is on fire right now.
