Arsenal v Manchester City Preview, Premiership, Saturday 13th September 2014

Arsenal have had a steady start to their new season having won 1 and drawn 2 of their opening three matches and manager Arsene Wenger will be happy enough with that at this early stage, this game on Saturday afternoon provides his team with a big chance to climb further up the table as they have already put Manchester City to the sword already this season after beating them 3-0 in the Charity Shield.

Manchester City saw their title hopes hit a bit of bump in their last game which they lost 1-0 at home to Stoke City and as you can imagine their manager Manuel Pellegrini was far from happy after the game and this could turn out to be a big loss for Manchester City if last season is anything to go by as it was one of the closest title races for years.

Manchester City really can’t afford to lose this game on Saturday afternoon as two defeats at this early stage would give teams like Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool a very healthy advantage and I am expecting the Manchester City players to come out fighting when they take to the Emirates pitch as they will all be fully aware of the situation that a defeat could mean to their title challenge.

Arsenal Team News:

Gnabry, Ospina, Theo Walcott and Oliver Giroud are all unavailable for manager Arsene Wenger as they continue to receive treatment for respective injury problems. The good news though for Arsenal fans is that Danny Welbeck should start the game up front and having scored twice for England midweek in the 2-0 victory over Switzerland, the player will be brimming with confidence.

Manchester City Team News:

Manager Manuel Pellegrini has no suspensions to contend with but it does look likely that Stevan Jovetic will miss out for the visitors as he struggles with a hamstring injury picked up midweek in training when representing Montenegro. Sergio Aguero will come in to replace him and lead the attack up front alongside Dzeko.

Arsenal v Manchester City Match Betting Odds Market

Arsenal have started the new season well and are currently one of only three sides to remain unbeaten after three matches played, so it does surprise me slightly to see the online bookmakers making them a best price of 2/1 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets for New Customers, to win this game on Saturday afternoon.

The Draw could be worth getting on at a current best price of 23/10 with Paddy Power – £50 Free Bets for New Customers, as the two squads are very similar in strength and with this fixture last season finishing 1-1, the draw could be a sensible choice as your main cover bet for this game.

Manchester City will still be suffering from a bit of shock having lost their latest league match at home against Stoke City as this would certainly of been a fixture that everyone involved at the club was expecting to win, so it does seem a bit strange why the bookmakers have the visitors installed as the clear favourites to win this game at a best price of 6/4 with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers.

Arsenal v Manchester City Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Arsenal will have seen Stoke City beat Manchester City in their latest match at the Etihad Stadium and that will obviously have installed plenty of confidence to the Arsenal players for this game. Danny Welbeck looks set to lead the attack up front and after his performance midweek for England in which he scored twice, I can definitely see him causing the Manchester City defence some real problems come Saturday afternoon.

Manchester City will know that a second successive defeat on the bounce would be a major blow to their title challenge and they will need to play a lot better than they did in that defeat at home against Stoke City last time out. Manager Manuel Pellegrini will certainly make this aware to his players in the dressing room before the game and I do expect the visitors to respond.

Sergio Aguero is a player that I have always admired and with him starting this game on Saturday afternoon the visitors obviously stand a very good chance of bouncing back to form and with support in behind coming from the likes of Navas, Nasri, Ya Ya Toure and David Silva I do expect City to score in this match.

The average goals per game statistics are suggesting this game to see between 2 and 3 goals and as such betting markets like Both Teams to Score YES, Total Match Goals 2 or 3 and Over 2.5 Goals could all provide some decent returns, however I am going to go with Sergio Aguero to score at anytime during this game as my main tip with a saver on the draw in what should be a very exciting game for both fans and neutrals.
