Hull City v Leicester City Preview, Premiership, Saturday 13th August 2016.

Newly promoted Hull City once again get to try it out in the Premiership and will hope to survive a little long this time having recently been relegated two seasons ago. Having won promotion via the play-offs once again they kick start their Premier League campaign by taking on the leagues Champions  Leicester City.

It’s taken some time to finally decide who gets to replace Steve Bruce as manager, with the club eventually deciding Mike Phelan can have a crack at keeping Hull City in the top flight this season.

With the club in take over talks the club have yet to make any signings this summer which spells disaster considering that they need to strengthen the team.

They have seen key midfielder Mo Diame leave the club to join Newcastle United which you could see as a step down being that Hull City were promoted and Newcastle United get to spend a season in the Championship having been relegated last season.

Champions Leicester City get to start their title defense with a testing game against newly promoted side Hull City on Saturday and will of course be the bookmakers favourites to come out on top with a comfortable win.

We have seen Leicester City lose just the one key player so far from last season with N’Golo Kante opting to join Chelsea who are without Champions League football this season, a situation I find quite bizarre seeing as though Leicester City can offer him such.

Regardless of that we have seen Arsenal try to sign two of Claudio Ranieri’s players with Jamie Vardy choosing to turn down the chance to join Arsene Wenger’s side and stay with the team who gave him his big break.

Mahrez is also a player rumored to be on the move yet manager and player have both said the winger will be staying with Leicester City this season.

Hull City Team News:

Hull City start their return to the Premiership with a paper thin squad having only thirteen senior players to choose from for Saturdays game.

Michael Dawson (knee), Allan McGregor (back), Moses Odubajo (knee) and Alex Bruce (achilles) are all missing long term while defender Harry Maguire could soon return with him being a couple of weeks away from full fitness.

Leicester City Team News:

Leicester City see the return of Matty James after he missed all of last season with a serious knee injury. Defender Robert Huth is banned after an incident with Manchester Uniteds Marouane Fellaini end of last season.

We should see the clubs new signing Ahmed Musa make his official debut which looks exciting due to the players raw speed. Other new signings Luis Hernandez, Papy Mendy, Bartosz Kapustka and Ron-Robert Zieler are also in the squad and could feature.

Leicester City: L L L W W

Leicester City got to tackle the best of the best in the International Champions Cup where they managed to lose quite badly against PSG and Barcelona. They have also lost the Community Shield to Manchester United and will certainly not want to start their title defense with a loss against Hull City.

Who are the better team in form coming into this game, even though they have recently lost to Italian side Torino.

Hull City v Leicester City Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

The Premier League kicks off once again this Saturday with the defending Champions Leicester City to face newly promoted side Hull City away from home.

The Foxes are of course the clear favourites to win this game especially seeing as though Hull City have some serious injuries all coming from the end of last season. They have also lost Mo Diame who joined Championship side Newcastle United even though Hull were promoted, and Newcastle relegated.

Hull City managed to win promotion via the Championships playoffs having seen off Sheffield Wednesday 1 – 0 on the day. That day seems so far away now and although Steve Bruce got the side promoted he decided to quit after failing to get the England job it seems.

Mike Phelan who was assistant manager under Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson has been looking to land a big job for some time, and has now been given a chance at the newly promoted club.

Leicester City have managed to get to the start of the season almost intact having only lost the one key player to a Premiership rival. N’Golo Kante opted to join Chelsea this summer even though they failed to win a Champions League position. They didn’t even manage to qualify for the Europa League having recorded a terrible mid table finish.

Mahrez and striker Jamie Vardy have both been subject to transfer offers from Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal with Vardy turning down the chance while Mahrez’ situation looking to be more like a typical rumor.

My predictions for this game must of course back that of the Champions, after having watched them against Manchester United in the Community Shield they do look really solid still even without experienced defender Robert Huth. As my banker I am going to go for Leicester City to win with a Jamie Vardy goal to kick start his goal scoring tally this season.

My next is going to be for a correct score of 2 – 0 to Leicester City which I feel has a solid chance of coming in come Saturday lunchtime.
