France v England Preview, International Friendly, 13th June 2017

France head into this friendly against England with somewhat of a world cup qualification hangover as they suffered a 2-1 defeat away in Stockholm last Friday night against Sweden.

That result showed that despite a squad of world class players, this french side still has plenty of weak areas on the pitch and England will be hoping to exploit them.

England also had a below par performance in their world cup qualifier on Saturday evening managing only to salvage an injury time draw courtesy of Harry Kane. Gareth Southgate’s side look in complete control for most of the game and when Oxlade-Chamberlain fired England into a 1-0 lead late on, England look destined for 3pts.

However, once again Joe Hart made all the headlines having been beaten not once, but twice by edge of the box free kicks neither of which will have done his chances of securing the England number one spot for the world cup finals next summer in Russia.

France Team News:

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris will captain France against England in Tuesday’s Stade de France friendly, despite his blunder against Sweden last week.

France are sticking with Lloris, who was to blame for the 2-1 defeat in Stockholm when his poor clearance gave Ola Toivonen the chance to score a last-minute winner.

England Team News:

For England, Tom Heaton will start the game in goal while Jack Butland has been confirmed to play the second half and after Joe Hart’s blunders with the free-kicks against Scotland, this should come as no real surprise.

There could also be debuts for defenders Ben Gibson and Kieran Trippier, who performed well with their clubs Middlesbrough and Tottenham last season, while Harry Kane will retain the captain’s armband.

Jamie Vardy and Nathaniel Clyne withdrew from the England squad before Saturday’s trip to Scotland and will not be available for selection this week.

France v England Head to Head Statistics:

Tuesday night’s game from the Stade de France will become the 31st meeting between the two nations over the years and as we can see from our head to head statistics table below which shows the previous five matches played between the two countries we see that France have a clear advantage having won 3, compared to England who have managed to win just 1, with the remaining match having finished all square.

105 Goals have been scored in the previous 30 meetings between the two nations and this provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 3.50.

67 of those Goals have been scored in the 18 previous matches played between the two nations with France having home advantage and this generates us an average goals per game statistic of exactly 3.72.

Based on both sets of data shown above, it would seem to suggest that this game should not see too many goals scored on Friday night and the betting market Total Match Goals Scored 2 or 3 looks a good choice here.

France v England Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

France will certainly be looking to bounce back to winning ways after their poor performance against Sweden last Friday night in a game that they lost 2-1 and with England having conceded two soft goals against Scotland in their world cup qualification match on Saturday evening that ended up 2-2 at Hampden Park, the french will obviously fancy their chances.

However, once again France showed that despite having a very strong squad full of world class individuals, there is still a lot of areas on the pitch where they can be hurt and Sweden had no problems in finding them, as such England will also be looking to target these area’s on Tuesday night and with Harry Kane in fine form at the moment, he will definitely be confident of scoring at least one in this game.

Onto some predictions then and my Banker Free Tip will be for Both Teams to Score as although this match is pretty meaningless with both nation’s having not had the greatest of results last time out in their world cup qualification matches, both managers will be expecting his players to step up for this game and as such I do expect to see at least two or three goals scored in this one.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip will be for Harry Kane to Score the 1st Goal in this match as there just does not seem any stopping the Spurs striker at the moment and having saved his country from what would of gone down as an embarrissing defeat against Scotland on Saturday evening, he will certainly be in the mood to get his name on the score-sheet during this game.
