Liverpool v Newcastle United Preview, Premiership, Sunday 13th April 2015

Liverpool can move into 5th place of the league table Monday night with a victory at home against Newcastle United, but Brendan Rogers side will need to do a lot better than they have done in their last two games of which they lost both going down 2-1 away against Manchester United and then completely outplayed and heavily beaten 4-1 against Arsenal.

Newcastle United are just 9pts above the relegation places and head into this game having lost their last four games in succession. Another defeat would not do their survival hopes much good as although they can possibly afford to lose another couple of their remaining seven matches, they still have some tough looking fixtures and with Queens Park Rangers and Leicester City having picked up some important points over the last couple of weeks Newcastle United are far from safe.

Liverpool Team News:

Mamadou Sakho is unavailable for the hosts having picked up a hamstring injury in the midweek victory in the FA Cup against Blackburn Rovers and both Martin Skrtel and Steven Gerrard are still both suspended and also miss out. Emre Can has now served his suspension and can be selected and Mario Balotelli could also feature having now recovered from illness.

Newcastle United Team News:

Rolando Aarons and Siem de Jong both remain unavailable for the visitors along with Coloccini and Papiss Cisse who are still suspended. Jordan Ibe is also available having now resumed training with the squad having had a lenghty spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury and he could also feature in the starting lineup for this one.

233 of those Goals have been scored in the previous 72 matches played between the two clubs at Anfield Stadium and this generates us an average goal scoring statistic for this match of 3.23

Liverpool v Manchester United Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Liverpool have been extremely poor in their last two matches and their 4-1 thrashing by Arsenal last time out will certainly have given all the players a bit of a reality check. However, I do expect them to bounce back and win this game on Monday night as Newcastle United are in even worse recent form than they are and with some of their key players still unavailable due to injury and suspension, everything looks in favour of a home win here.

The average goals per game statistics are expecting this match to see plenty of goals scored, but with Newcastle United having only managed to score just one goal in their last four matches it does seem like Liverpool will be doing most of the scoring.

As such my Banker for this game is going to be Liverpool Half Time/Full Time as I expect the hosts to start strong and then just frustrate their visitors with lots of possession.

My Saver is going to be for Daniel Sturridge to Score First Goal of the game as this really is the perfect chance for the England striker to get back to scoring ways as the Newcastle United defence have shipped seven goals in those lost four defeats.
