Swansea City v Chelsea Preview, Premiership, Sunday April 13th 2014

This fixture for Chelsea will be another game in a long line of must-wins coming into the last few remaining games in the English Premier League when the Blues head to Wales to play Swansea City on Sunday afternoon.

Chelsea head into the weekend currently in second place on 72 points and will be closely watching the result of the game between first place Liverpool and third place Manchester City at Anfield which will take place earlier in the day.

A loss for the Kopites combined with a win for Jose Mourinho’s Blues would put Chelsea back in first place, but the big thing for both Liverpool and Chelsea to remember is that City will still have two games in hand on both of them.

The Swans and their recently appointed manager Garry Monk haven’t proven to be that dominating at home this season compared to last season, although led by striker Wilfried Bony they have scored an impressive 45 goals so far this campaign.

Michu is also now back for Swansea and him and Bony could cause Chelsea a lot of problems at the back if they are paired up front in the attack together during this game.

Swansea City Team News:

Swansea City manager Gary Monk will be delighted that he has Michu back from injury for this game, however I am not sure how match fit he is going to be. The Swans do have Alejandro Pozuelo injured with a muscle strain and their only other injury is defender Kyle Bartley who is trying to shake of a hamstring problem.

Chelsea Team News:

For the first time this season manager Jose Mourinho has no players out injured which is terrific news at this very crucial stage of the season. Chelsea also have no players suspended for this fixture, but as to who is going to lead the attack up front is anyone’s guess.

Tottenham Hotspur v Sunderland Head to Head Statistics:

Sunday afternoon’s kick off from The Liberty Stadium will become the 8th meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Chelsea have won 3 times (3 at The Liberty Stadium), Swansea City have won 1 times (0 at The Liberty Stadium) and there has been 3 draws (3 at The Liberty Stadium).

The recent head to head statistics below show us that Chelsea have a little advantage over Swansea winning two of the last five matches played and only losing just the once.

26/12/13 PRL Chelsea – Swansea City 1 : 0
28/04/13 PRL Chelsea – Swansea City 2 : 0
23/01/13 LEC Swansea City – Chelsea 0 : 0
09/01/13 LEC Chelsea – Swansea City
0 : 2
03/11/12 PRL Swansea City – Chelsea
1 : 1

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

14 goals have been scored in the previous 7 matches played between the two clubs, which provides us with an average goal per game statistic of 2.00.

4 of those goals have been scored in the 3 matches played between the two clubs at Stamford Bridge, which gives us an average goals per game statistic of 1.33.

Looking at the statistics above we should be in for a little bit of a dull game with their likely to be under 2.5 goals in the match, however I somehow get the feeling that it wont go the way the statistics are suggesting as Chelsea will be desperate for a win.

Swansea City v Chelsea Recent Form (Left to Right)

Swansea City: L L D W L

Chelsea: W L L W W

Chelsea are boasting the better run of form having won three out of their last five games with them losing two and drawing none. Swansea have only won once in their previous five fixtures with them losing three times and drawing just the once.

Swansea City v Chelsea Match Betting Odds Market

Swansea City head into this game in a poor run of game under their belt winning just once in their previous five attempts. Manager Gary Monk will want them to bounce back from their last game, which was a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Hull City. If Swansea come out the blocks fast and have a real go at Chelsea they might take something away from the game. The best odds are coming in at 4/1 with Coral (Deposit £5 & Receive £20 Free Bets, New Customers Only).

The Draw is a possibility in my eyes as Chelsea might be suffering from that dramatic Champions League win over French side Psg. All you gamblers out there might be better sticking your money on a draw as its good value for money. The best price of the draw is coming in at 11/4 with Betfred (£10 Free Bets No Deposit for New Customers).

Chelsea will be absolutely desperate to grab a win here as they still need to go to Anfield which won’t be an easy task given how Liverpool are knocking in three or four a game. Even though the Swans are at home I still believe Chelsea will have too much firepower up front for Swansea to cope with and the best price available for a Chelsea win is coming in at 4/5 with SkyBet (£30 Free Bets for New Customers).

Swansea City v Chelsea Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Chelsea will be looking at this game thinking it’s a must win if they are to challenge Liverpool and Manchester city for the crown of the Premier League title once again under The Special One.

I believe Chelsea wont be that rampant in this game but I expect them too score at least two goals given the importance of securing all 3pts and the fact that their manager will be drilling it into them when he speaks to them before the game starts.

Some would say that Swansea City have nothing to play for but I disagree as I see them being one of the teams battling to stay in the Premier League come the start of next season, although I think they will lose this game on Sunday I still believe that they have too much quality up front to get relegated.

So down to some predictions for this game and once again I have struggled to pick my banker as there are so many possible outcomes, but I have decided to go for Chelsea to win and both teams to score with the reason being Chelsea will score at least two goals and I can not see Swansea not scoring in the match.

My saver for this game is going to bea bit of a long shot, which is a correct score bet. The correct score bet I have chosen is Chelsea to win 3-1 which is great odds from a number of the online bookmakers.
