Manchester United v West Ham United Preview, FA Cup Quarter Final, Sunday 13th March 2016.

Once again we see troubling times for Manchester United having previously started to pick up some wins only to then lose to West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool in the Europa League. Many of United’s legends including Paul Scholes have described the performance against Liverpool as the worst seen all season, which lets be honest with so many to choose from it really must of been bad!

With the way West Ham United are playing right now I cant help but be worried for Manchester United here especially with their performances so hit and miss this season. With constant talk of Louis Van Gaal’s job becoming more and more fragile it really will take United to win the FA Cup or Europa League to save his job. As finishing in the top four is now starting to look grimmer each week.

West Ham United continue to impress this season and I have to be honest are my favourites to actually lift the FA Cup this season as well as potentially knock Manchester City out of the top four spot and claim Champions League football for next season. Apart from the 2 – 2 draw against relegation struggling side Norwich City back in February they have now gone the last four games having won each.

The Hammers do have a tough run in to the end of the season with Chelsea, Arsenal and Leicester City all to play, on top of that they do also host Manchester united at some point but to be honest I can see them being the favourites to win that clash unless Manchester United start to actually play as expected. Where can West Ham United finish this season I have no idea, but I’d like it to be high as they certainly deserve it.

Manchester United Team News:

Manchester United continue to have their injury problems even with a few filtering back here and there, and it becomes a constant bore when hearing excuses when they had plenty of chances to actually buy in the Summer and January. Instead they have gone with youth which to be honest has been great as its clearly allowed the youngsters to improve and grab some much needed experience. As for other issues we do see Juan Mata miss out in this game with the Spaniard earning two silly yellow cards against West Brom and serves a suspension.

West Ham United Team News:

West Ham United also have a few injuries still with James Morrison still missing due to his hamstring, while we also see James Collins unavailable due to the same injury. Winston Read has been a doubt recently due to his hamstring and could be a doubt for this game on Sunday. Apart from that James Tomkins is still out due to his calf, but could return soon.

Manchester United v West Ham United Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five head to head encounters we do see it is Manchester United who have had the better results with three wins and two more recent draws. But we need to be honest here and look at how both teams are playing, which could then see West Ham add another win taking it to a total of 32 over the years. In the 110 games we have recorded we do see Manchester United out in front with 53 wins, 26 draws and of course the 31 loses.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 110 games played throughout the years we have seen a total of 350 goals scored, which is going to give us a goals per game average of 3.2. That could be a little high when looking to make a bet however with us more likely to see 0 to 2 goals on the day. As its an FA Cup tie I am going to go with the below option for Sundays game.

West Ham United: W W W W D

West Ham United are in great form this season and have now gone six games without loses. In that time they have won five in all competitions and have just the one draw against Norwich City. Manchester United did start to string a few good results together but then managed to lose against West Bromwich Albion and more recently Liverpool in the Europa League.

Manchester United v West Ham United Match Betting Odds Market

Manchester United are somehow the favourites to win this match and it can only be down to the fact they are playing at Old Trafford. Their form certainly doesn’t suggest they can win it, but the best odds from the bookmakers can be found here @ 1/1 with Betfred – Bet £10 Get £30 Free Bets when Registering a New Account.

Manchester United v West Ham United Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

FA Cup Quarter Final action this Sunday comes live on BT Sports 2 and in perfect High Definition at Old Trafford, where the shaky Manchester United take on in form West Ham United. Pundits and obviously Louis Van Gaal got slightly excited when the club started to put together some good results but fans and the more realistic neutrals could see the wins came against poor opposition such as Shrewsbury Town and Midtylland.

Yeah okay they managed to beat Arsenal three days later but even then if it wasn’t for the clubs goalkeeper then it would of no doubt of been a loss. Even against Watford they got lucky with a late penalty in the game and once again the talents of David de Gea who can’t seriously want to stay at the club come the end of the season. Not that his likely destination Real Madrid are doing great in recent months mind you.

West Ham United have to be the favourites for this game considering the clubs incredible form and regardless of what the bookmakers say they are my personal choice, although reluctant to admit it. Having beaten Tottenham Hotspurs recently I can see West Ham continuing their winning streak and could potentially see them coming higher than their current 5th position.

If West Ham’s creative players play how they have most of the season against Manchester United then we could potentially see plenty of goals, and with the home side missing Juan Mata I am wondering where Manchester United’s own creativity is going to come from. West Ham United face Chelsea away from home after this fixture so a win on Sunday could see them bombard into the Bridge and take no prisoners.

My predictions for this game are leaning more towards the away side winning this game yet it could also go either way as I am sure many would agree. So instead of my banker selection picking someone to actually win the game, I feel playing safe with the below option of taking two to three goals scored on the day a better option.

My other prediction will be for a correct scoreline guess of 2 – 1 on the day. Now I didn’t mention to who there as I feel I dare to even guess who could win this game even though I do feel West Ham have a better chance of winning due to their current form. So sod it lets go for the so called underdog and take the away side to win the game 2 – 1!
