Chelsea v Newcastle United Preview, Premiership, Saturday 13th February 2016.

It’s now been eleven games since Chelsea have lost a game which is a far better run of form than seen in the first half of the season. Granted they haven’t moved up the table too far as six of these games have been draws of some kind and they now sit in thirteenth. Now the table this year is once again all over the place, with just seven points between Chelsea and Norwich City who are in a relegation position. That said I for one cannot see Chelsea relegated and I can imagine the odds on that being laughable! Chelsea last played at Stamford Bridge on Sunday against Manchester United who seemed close to winning it at one point, only for Diego Costa to steal an equalizer late in the game in the 90th minute. It’s Champions League action after this Newcastle fixture and a win on Saturday will certainly help the players confidence which has seriously been lacking this season.

Newcastle United managed a win last week against West Bromwich Albion which must of meant a lot as their last two games were away from home and ending in disappointing loses. A win against Chelsea does seem to be against the odds but then Newcastle United this season haven’t exactly been predictable when it comes to playing the bigger teams. The game after was meant to be against Manchester City which has been postponed, so the next game is in a couple of weeks time when they travel to Stoke City in hopes of another three points to help them avoid relegation. The Stoke City game and the Bournemouth game the club really do need to push for three points as after this they face top of the league Leicester City which wont be an easy game as Manchester City recently found out.

Chelsea Team News:

With youngster Kurt Zouma suffering a nasty injury against Manchester United, we will no doubt see Gray Cahill come in to replace him and team up with John Terry. Sadly for Zouma he will be out for the remainder of the season which although is a shame for the defender it does see Gary Cahill make his first start since Boxing Day last year. Diego Costa broke his nose this week in training but could still start with a protective mask. Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao are still out of action and new boy Pato is still short of match fitness.

Newcastle United Team News:

This week Newcastle United have seen the return of Emmanuel Riviere from a knee injury as well as Jack Colback with his hamstring and both could be made available after getting through training this week. Newcastle United will be hoping that Diego Costa is unavailable as that will leave Chelsea with no recognized first team striker.

Chelsea v Newcastle United Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five head to head encounters the honors are all even here with both sides managing two wins and the draw seen at Newcastle in September. In total the two clubs have met each other 134 times where Chelsea are out in front with 54 wins, 35 draws and the 45 loses. They have won 36 times at home but then need to take into account that Newcastle United have won away from home on 18 occasions.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 134 games played out against each other the two clubs have scored a total of 366 goals which is going to give us a goals per game average of 2.7. Three of the five last games played have seen that amount scored and two of them with a couple of goals hitting the net, so my choice would be the below selection for Saturdays game.

Chelsea: D D W W D

Newcastle United: W L L W D

Well both clubs haven’t exactly lit up the Premier League this season and one of them currently hold the title as Champions! Chelsea however have improved since under new management and have now gone eleven games unbeaten, but then six of these games in the league have ended as draws but then at least every point counts especially when seven points are all that there is between them and Norwich City.

Chelsea v Newcastle United Match Betting Odds Market

Chelsea as expected are the clear favourites to win this game it it does of course help when they have started to build upon their growing confidence of eleven games unbeaten. The Draw is a possibility although to be honest I can only see Chelsea winning the game come the end of ninety minutes. That said we have all seen Newcastle shock the bigger teams and the best odds of them drawing can be found here @ 19/5 with Betfred – Bet £10 Get £30 Free Bets when Registering a New Account

Newcastle United will do their best to try and continue from last weekends win, but do they really have it in them to beat a Chelsea side who refuse to lose when looking at their recent run of games. the bookmakers best odds of an away team winning can be found coming in here @ 7/1 with Betfred – Bet £10 Get £30 Free Bets when Registering a New Account

Chelsea v Newcastle United Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premier League action this weekend comes live on Sky Sports 1 High Definition and witnesses Chelsea at home against Newcastle United with the Champions looking to continue their run yet start actually adding wins instead of draws. This is really a game that Chelsea should be winning although we all know that Newcastle United do have a few surprises up their sleeves when it comes down to playing some of the divisions tough sides. Chelsea have Champions League action next week against French Champions PSG, so a win on Saturday will be a must even though tough as they are away from home.

Newcastle United have improved here and there although still manage to lose against some of the sides they should have a better chance of earning points against, like Everton and Watford who are only nine and eleven points away. Newcastle United are just one point away from the drop and the club could find themselves going down a division unless they start to pick up some much needed points. They have a nice break coming up with the game against Manchester City being postponed, which could allow some rest for injured players that are needed to return.

My predictions for this game do mainly see Chelsea as winners come ninety minutes, even though we are all starting to see a pattern with the home sides more often than not drawing the game. So for my first I am just going to take as my banker that both teams will score and the game will end as Chelsea winners. The other I am fancying is just a straight out draw, no bells or whistles so going to back it as it is.
