Manchester United v Liverpool Preview, Premiership, Saturday 12th September 2015.

Manchester United will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend after all the international games played, as the away loss to Swansea City before hand didn’t go down too well especially after they went one goal up with a Juan Mata strike. Wayne Rooney however will be on an extreme high after beating Sir Bobby Charlton’s scoring record for England with he converted his spot kick against Switzerland in their 2 – 0 victory. It was Rooney’s fiftieth goal for England and he will now look to take that confidence into the home game against bitter rivals Liverpool on Saturday. After this league game United then have to travel to PSV as they compete in their first group stage game in the Champions League.

Liverpool have experienced a winning start to the season although were lucky in both of their wins against Stoke City and Bournemouth. They then earned a solid draw away from home to Arsenal but then somehow got embarrassed at home when West Ham United destroyed them 3 – 0. There are mixed feelings among the Liverpool fans with some calling for Brendan Rodgers to be sacked and others who back the ex Swansea City manager. Liverpool face a tough challenge away from home at Old Trafford, then they travel to France to face Bordeaux in the Europa League group stages.

Manchester United Team News:

Some excellent news for Manchester United as of today, in which goalkeeper David de Gea signs a new four year contract with an option to extend it a year potentially keeping him at United until 2020. There has been a lot of bad mouthing coming out of Spain with Real Madrid still blaming Manchester United for this failed transfer, even though United and the FA have stated they have clear proof it was not their fault in any way. United are without Phil Jones still and also recently have seen Michael Carrick sidelined after pulling out of England duty.

Liverpool Team News:

Liverpool have a number of injuries right now with midfielders Joe Allen (hamstring) and Adam Lallana (thigh) both missing out. Daniel Sturridge is back in training having recovered from a thigh injury, although will not play Saturday. John Flanagan is also still missing with his knee. Philippe Coutinho is suspended after being sent off against West Ham United.

Manchester United v Liverpool Head to Head Statistics:

In total we have 165 fixtures recorded in which Manchester United come out on top with 66 wins and 55 loses. There have also been 44 draws in total with the last coming back in 2011 at Anfield.

Manchester United v Liverpool Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Premiership action kicks off once again this Saturday and it couldn’t feature a better game after all of the International recent fixtures. The game features Manchester United at Old Trafford and again face their bitter rivers Liverpool in another major Premier League clash of horns. The game can be seen live on Sky Sports 1 High Definition and is an evening kick off at such a stunning stadium.

Manchester United started the season with two wins and a draw and then fell short against Swansea City away from home in a 2 – 1 loss. It would of been salt in the wound for manager Van Gaal who lost both home and away to Swansea City in last seasons fixture list. Liverpool also started with two wins although that could of gone either way with some terrible referee decisions going their way against Bournemouth. They then have also drawn and lost their recent two games and will be hoping to get back to winning ways against their ancient enemy.

My predictions for this clash of giants does see Manchester United come out as victors, as I do feel they are in a better position with less injuries and playing with better confidence. Liverpool are also without their midfield talisman Coutinho due to suspension so could struggle on the attack. My first prediction will be for both teams to score and Manchester United to win the game. The next will be for 2 to 3 goals scored in the game which could be a dead cert.
