Everton v Chelsea Preview, Premiership, Saturday 12th September 2015

Everton have started the season well and do look a side capable of securing at least a top six finish this season if they can keep the majority of their star players fit and although they did lose 2-0 at home against Manchester City a couple of weeks ago, the fans and players will still believe that they can win this game come Saturday lunch time despite them facing last season’s current defending Champions.

Chelsea have not had the best of starts to their new season and manager Jose Mourinho will certainly not be a happy man at all at the moment and it does seem that anything but a convincing win in this game could see him to start making a lot of changes to his starting lineup in the coming weeks.

Everton Team News:

Everton are without left-back Leighton Baines and midfielder Tom Cleverley due to ankle injuries, while Steven Pienaar has a hamstring problem. Bryan Oviedo is a doubt with a knee injury but Darron Gibson has returned to training following a foot problem.

Chelsea Team News:

Chelsea are without goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois who picked up a knee injury in training so Asmir Begovic will come in to replace him between the sticks. Oscar is also unavailable as he continues to recover from an injury but Ramires will be hoping for a start having now fully recovered from a minor knock and defender Papy Djilobodji could also feature following his move from Nantes.

Everton v Chelsea Head to Head Statistics:

Saturday afternoon’s match from Goodison Park will become the 161st meeting between the two clubs over the years. Everton have managed to secure 50 victories overall with 37 of these having come with home advantage, where as Chelsea have managed 61 victories overall also with 19 of those having came away from home.

Our head to head statistics table below shows the last five matches played between the two clubs and as we can see it has been Chelsea who have enjoyed the better of the results over recent season’s having managed to win an impressive 4 times, compared to Everton having won just once.

11/02/15 PRL Chelsea – Everton 1 : 0
30/08/14 PRL Everton – Chelsea 3 : 6
22/02/14 PRL Chelsea- Everton 1 : 0
22/02/14 PRL Everton – Chelsea 1 : 0
14/09/13 PRL Chelsea- Everton 2 : 1

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

484 Goals have been scored in the previous 160 matches played between the two clubs, which provides us with an average goals statistic of 3.02.

262 of those Goals have been scored in the 80 matches played between the two clubs at Goodison Park, which generates us with an average goals per game statistic of 3.28

Both sets of data seem to indicate that this game is likely to see plenty of goals scored with at least three or more goals hitting the back of the net on Saturday afternoon and the Over 2.5 Goals betting market does look extremely attractive at it’s current best odds with BetVictor.

Everton v Chelsea Match Betting Odds Market

Everton are in the better form at the moment and having seen Chelsea struggle to a 2-1 defeat at home last time out against Crystal Palace the hosts will obviously fancy their chances and do look good value at a current best price of  16/10 with Coral – Receive £50 Free Bets for New Customers Registering an Account.

The Draw could also be a sensible decision as I would probably expect Everton to be quite happy in taking a point from this game and this can be backed at a current best price of 5/2 with Bet365 – £200 Free Bets For New Customers Registering an Account.

Everton v Chelsea Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

Despite Chelsea having dominated recent proceedings and hammering Everton 6-3 in this fixture last season, Everton do have quite a decent record against the current Premiership champions having lost only two of their last seven Barclays Premier League encounters with the Blues and with Chelsea currently struggling to play anything like they did last season the hosts will obviously fancy their chances of causing a bit of an upset on Saturday afternoon.

However, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is certain to make a number of changes to the side that lost 2-1 against Crystal Palace last time out and both Oscar and Ramires look likely to feature in the starting lineup and I do believe that Chelsea will eventually come away with all 3pts when all is said and done.

Onto some predictions then and my Banker Free Tip for this match is going to be Chelsea to Win as it can surely only be a matter of time before the defending champions find their form showed last season and with Everton having struggled to a 0-0 draw against Spurs last time out, I think Jose Mourinho will see this game as a big chance to turn his sides season around.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip is going to be Diego Costa as although he has not looked quite as sharp as he did last season, the Everton defence are prone to leaving gaps at the back and when they do I expect Costa to be right there to punish them.
