Atletico Madrid v Leicester City Preview, Champions League, Quarter Finals 1st Leg, 12th April 2017

What an exciting game this will be on Wednesday evening where third placed Atletico Madrid come face to face with the English Champions. Madrid are playing exceptionally well lately winning three and drawing two from their last five games in all competitions. They currently sit ten points being La Liga leaders Real Madrid but did close that gap recently when they drew away from home at the weekend.

This should be an easy game for Atletico Madrid when looking at the clubs positions in each league, regardless of the fact that Leicester City where close to being relegated at some point. Yet their opponents have been playing well enough in the competition to warrant being here for this game so plenty of respect should be show to Leicester City come Wednesday night.

Leicester City ended their winning run at the weekend when they traveled to Everton looking for a further three points. The game had plenty of action and goals with City leaving the stadium being beaten 4 – 2.  They do however come out of the weekends fixtures in eleventh position and sitting eight points outside of the relegation zone with seven games left remaining.

Although unlikely could we possibly see Leicester City go to Spain and pull off another shock performance and beat Atletico Madrid on their own turf? Its doubtful but they could very well go their and come away with a draw of some kind and even potentially score themselves an away goal on the night. Then it will be hard work to progress from their and win at their own ground in a weeks time.

Atletico Madrid Team News :

Atletico Madrid have been without Nico Gaitan lately yet he has returned and taken part in training this week having recovered from a tow injury. Out of action though are goalkeeper Miquel Angel Moya and attacker Kevin Gameiro who bath have hamstring injuries.

Leicester City Team News :

Leicester City players will want to be careful in this game especially if they wish to play in the home leg. Four players are just one booking away from missing that match with Islam Slimani, N’Didi, Jamie Vardy and Robert Huth the culprits. As for injuries we do see Wes Morgan travel with the team, although wont play due to a back issue. Wilfred N’Didi is back having missed the Everton game.

Atletico Madrid v Leicester City Head to Head Statistics:

Although the two sides have played before in Europe it was way back during the Cup Winners Cup back in 1961/62, and 1997/98 UEFA Cup. Although I would love to see Leicester City win in Spain on Wednesday night I just cannot see it, and of course as expected it is Atletico Madrid who are the bookmakers favourites for the win.

Atletico Madrid v Leicester City Recent Form All Competitions (Left to Right)

Atletico Madrid: D W W W D

Leicester City: L W W W W

Although both sides are showing they are in good form lately it is Atletico Madrid who come out on top with them still in with a small chance of winning the La Liga competition. Leicester City suffered their first defeat under Craig Shakespear this weekend and I am wondering if they can shake that off and bounce back in Europe.

The Draw is the best I feel Leicester City could earn and would only do so if they played out of their skins this Wednesday. The best odds on the two drawing this game can be seen coming in here @ 9/2 with Betfred – Bet £10 & Receive £60 Free Bets & Spins when Registering a New Account

Leicester City to win this Wednesday is highly unlikely regardless of how well they have been doing lately under new management. I just feel this game is a little to much for them, yet the best odds on them actually winning can be found here @ 12/1 with Bet365 – Receive £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers Registering an Account.

Atletico Madrid v Leicester City Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Champions League action this Wednesday night can be seen live via BT Sports 2 and of course in high definition. We will be in Spain where Atletico Madrid play hosts to English Champions Leicester City for the first leg of the quarter finals. Although we are expecting a home win here if it is of a decent amount then it could be game over for Leicester City who have rode their luck somewhat so far in this competition.

Atletico Madrid have been playing well and even took points off of current La Liga leaders Real Madrid at the weekend where they drew the game 1 – 1 away from home. They are still a heavy ten points behind them in the table with only seven points left to play and plenty of hard games coming up in the closing staged of the season.

Leicester City did lose this weekend against Everton yet still look like they could be safe from the drop this time round. They are currently in eleventh place and only eight points clear of Swansea City who currently hold that eighteenth place relegation position. That said Leicester City do have some extremely tough games leading into the closing stages of the competition with Watford and Bournemouth as their easier games.

My predictions for this game do of course back that of an Atletico Madrid win as I just cannot see Leicester City pulling off a shock win away from home here this Wednesday. For my banker prediction I am going to take Atletico Madrid win this game without conceding a goal on the night, which to be fair isn’t giving the best of odds. The other will be for Atletico Madrid to win the game 2 – 0 on the night.
