Norwich City v Manchester City Preview, Premiership, Saturday 12th March 2016.

Norwich City fans will hope that after this inevitable loss to Manchester City on Saturday they may just start potentially putting some winning results together as they face four other relegation battling sides. Although we all know anyone can beat anyone in this incredible league I just cant see the Canaries dragging themselves out of this rut against a title challenging side.

After Manchester City their toughest games will be West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace and if they can manage to earn points against these then Newcastle United and neighbors Sunderland should be a walk in the park. That’s just being hypothetical however as we all know each of these Premiership sides are all fighting for survival to stay in this league.

Manchester City still believe they can catch league leaders Leicester City even though they are currently ten points behind with a game in hand. After the destruction of bottom side Aston Villa they are of course clear favourites to repeat a scoreline such as last weeks against this poor Norwich City side who have failed to win a game since the beginning of January.

With the Newcastle United game postponed, Manchester City’s next five games does include that of a local derby when the red side of the city pay visit. A win against Manchester United will be a must for the home team especially if they do hold out any hopes of becoming champions this season. The other league games to play in this five are against Bournemouth and West Bromwich Albion who recent beat Manchester United.

The remaining fixture will be in the Champions League for the second leg to be played in England at The Etihad Stadium. Manchester City currently lead Dynamo Kyiv 3 – 1 and will of course be clear favourites to progress into the quarter finals of the competition. I am looking forward to the next round draw as top sides such as PSG have made it through after knocking out Chelsea 4 – 2 on aggregate on Wednesday.

Norwich City Team News:

Home side Norwich City could be once again without Sebastian Bassong due to a knock he picked up in training a week or so back although it is rumored he could return if he passes a late fitness test. Another who has been out injured and could potentially feature is Andre Wisdom yet we are still awaiting news on that.

Two players I am sure will not feature is that of Steven Naismith after he was substituted against Swansea City due to his hamstring. He is also another who requires a late fitness test but I wouldn’t be holding my breath. Robbie Brady was also substituted in the loss to Swansea City after he suffered an issue with his calf.

Manchester City Team News:

Although he is unlikely to feature on Saturday it is great news for Manchester City and its fans as Kevin De Bruyne returns to training this week. Fabian Delph (Achilles) and Samir Nasri (hamstring) are still unavailable due to injury and unlikely to return in the coming weeks which completes the extent of Manchester City’s injury list.

Norwich City v Manchester City Head to Head Statistics:

In the last five games played I am amazed to see that Norwich City have managed to earn any points with the dominance of Manchester City in recent years. As we can see below Manchester City have won three out of the five and in total have won an impressive 28 out of the 51 played against each other. Norwich City have only won 6 and the last time doing so wasn’t too long ago in 2013 as seen below.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the 51 games played out between these two Premiership sides we have seen a total of 145 goals scored. This is going to give us a goals per game average of 2.8 but lets face it that is always going to be a hit and miss when knowing that Manchester City smashed them 7 – 0 in the not so long distant past. I’d be more inclined to go with the below option for Saturdays game.

Norwich City v Manchester City Recent Form All Competitions (Left to Right)

Norwich City: L L L D L

Manchester City: W L W W L

Norwich City currently have the worst form in the Premiership currently and are in my eyes one of the favourites to be relegated alongside Aston Villa come the end of the season. Manchester City may not be at their best but are still in far better form than their opponents Saturday.

Norwich City v Manchester City Match Betting Odds Market

Norwich City are in serious trouble right now and with the worst form in the league have little hope of actually winning this game come Saturday. The best odds currently for the home win can be found here @ 5/1 with Bet365 – Receive £200 in Matched Bets when You Register a New Account

The Draw is the best Norwich City could hope for in my point of view as I am sure everyone feels a win for Norwich City is completely out of the question. Best odds on the two drawing the game can be found here @ 10/3 with Betfred – Bet £10 Get £30 Free Bets when Registering a New Account

Manchester City are as expected the easy favourites set by the bookmakers and I cant seriously see them slipping up against the Canaries on Saturday lunchtime. Norwich City v Manchester City Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Premiership action this Saturday lunchtime can be seen live and in high definition on Sky Sports 1 and on offer is relegation battling side Norwich City, hosting wannabe title challengers Manchester City. It is a must win game for both teams really because if Norwich City continue losing then they may as well kiss Premier League football next season goodbye.

That said once the Manchester City game is out of the way they do have an easier run in to the end of the season than most. Arsenal in April and Manchester United in May will be their toughest games with three of the other six sides all potentially fighting for their own survival. That said West Brom, Everton and Watford are still not safe, yet to be honest do look pretty safe being close to the forty point mark.

Manchester City have a tough run in to the end of the season and will need to beat sides such as Arsenal and Manchester United at The Etihad, as well as playing the likes of current champions Chelsea away from home. Their other games should be pretty routine, yet with other fixtures also yet to be played in the Champions League we could start to see a little fatigue creeping in.

Manchester City do play their home leg in the Champions League next Tuesday and are of course easy favourites to progress into the quarter finals of the competition. Chelsea are out and Arsenal have little hopes of beating favourites Barcelona in Spain, which will then leave the Manchester club as the only English side left in the competition.

My predictions for this game cannot in anyway back that of the underdog here especially as Norwich City are in the worst form out of any side currently in the league. My banker prediction will be for Manchester City to win the game to nil as I cant seriously see the home side scoring come Saturday lunchtime.

The next of my predictions will be for there to be plenty of goals scored in this game, with Manchester City looking to improve and build on their recent league win against Aston Villa. Having lost three out of the last league games it certainly is not good enough for a side who consider themselves contenders. So for this prediction I plan to take four or more goals scored on the day.
