Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest Preview, Championship, 11th September 2016

Aston Villa head into this game having not had the best of starts to their new life in the championship after suffering relegation from the english top flight and already find themselves playing catchup way down in 16th position of the league table after securing just one win, two draws and two defeats from their opening five matches played.

Nottingham Forest head into the game having had a much better start to their new season than their hosts having won three and lost two of their opening five matches played and currently sit pretty in 7th position of the league table, just 4pts behind current league leaders Huddersfield Town.

Neither side can really afford to lose this game if they are hoping to be in contention for promotion and Sunday’s afternoon game from Villa Park looks like being a very close game indeed.

Aston Villa Team News :

The hosts could be without Mile Jedinak for this game as he suffered an injury whilst on International duty with Australia last week and he will under take a late fitness test to see if he can be involved.

New signing Jonathan Kodjia could be set for his club debut having signed from Bristol City and lead the attack up front alongside Ross McCormack.

Albert Adomaha who signed on the final day of the transfer window could also be handed his debut after his move from Middlesbrough.

Nottingham Forest Team News :

The visitors will wait on news of Britt Assombalonga who will under take a late fitness test due to a hamstring pull he has currently been suffering from.

Damien Perquis is also a doubt as he continues to struggle with an ankle problem and he will also be handed a late fitness test to see if he can play.

Nicklas Bendtner is likely to start this game up front after his move from Wolfsburg despite lacking match fitness and Lica, Mustapha Carayol and Nicolao Dumitru are also hoping to be involved.

Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest Head to Head Statistics:

Sunday’s afternoon game from Villa Park Stadium will become the 83rd meeting between the two clubs over the years, of which Aston Villa have managed to win 33 matches overall, with 24 of those having came with home advantage.

Nottingham Forest have managed to secure 27 wins overall, but just 9 of those victories were recorded away from home and it does seem that Forest seem to struggle away from home against Villa.

As we can see from our head to head to head statistics table shown below, recent meetings between the two clubs shows nothing between the two clubs with both having managed to secure one win each and the remaining three games having finished all square.

116 of those Goals have been scored in the previous 40 matches played between the two clubs at the Madejski Stadium and this provides us with an average goals per game statistic of 2.90.

Based on both sets of data shown above, it does seem to indicate that this game should see between 2 or 3 goals scored in this game with a possible 2-2 score-line not out of the question.

Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest Match Betting Odds Market

Aston Villa are the surprising clear favourites to win this game on Sunday afternoon with a current best price available of 5/6 with Coral – Bet £5 & Receive £20 Free Bets when Registering a New Account, and this does seem a bit odd considering their recent form has not been at all great in their opening five league matches of the new season.

The Draw is a current a best price of 5/2 with Bet365 – Receive £200 Matched Bonus Bets when Registering a New Account.

Nottingham Forest are currently a best price of of 18/5 with BetFred – Bet £10 & Receive £30 Free Bets when Registering a New Account, and this does look overpriced in my opinion as they have certainly been the better side recently.

Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest Match Predictions, Banker Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets

Aston Villa have found things quite tough going this season and will be desperate to secure all 3pts from this game to help them climb back up the league table after a poor start and with news that new signing Jonathan Kodjia is likely to start this game up front alongside Ross McCormack, the hosts certainly look a more stronger squad to what we have seen so far.

Nottingham Forest will most probably have to make do without their star striker Britt Assombalonga who continues to nurse a hamstring problem, new signing Nicklas Bendtner who recently joined the club from Wolfsburg could be handed his debut for the club.

These two clubs have battled out three draws in their last five previous encounters and I am leaning towards this game following suit, however I can see Aston Villa just nicking this game as with their visitors still looking likely to be without their top goalscorer from last season, the hosts should prove just too strong on Sunday afternoon.

Onto some predictions then and my Banker Free Tip for this game is going to be for Aston Villa to Win as with home advantage and their squad looking a lot stronger now with the new signings making their club debut’s, this could be the perfect chance for Villa to secure some much needed points.

My First Goalscorer Free Tip is going to be for Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack to score the first goal of this game as with Jonathan Kodjia likely to start up front alongside him, he should receive plenty of goalscoring chances in this game.
