Serbia v Wales Preview, World Cup 2018, Qualifier, Sunday 11th June 2017.

Serbia are currently sitting top of Group D right now with the better goal difference over the Republic of Ireland who share the same amount of points. Both mentioned have won three and drawn three with Serbia scoring and conceding far more goals. This could be worrying for Serbia whose opponents Wales have played well having yet to lose a game.

We do see that the home side are clear favourites to win this match which will surely see them continue at the top of the table. That does of course depend on how the Republic of Ireland get on when they welcome forth placed Austria to their ground on Sunday. All four nations mentioned have a solid chance at winning this group and it does all depend on who cracks first I believe.

Wales themselves have had some well earned results although they should really of have beaten Georgia at home in October of last year. The game ended 1 – 1 when Gareth Bale sent his side into an early lead, but then just before the hour mark Wales managed to concede to a Georgia equalizer. We have already seen Wales play Serbia in Cardiff in which the game also ending as a 1 – 1 draw, could Wales close the gap on Sunday?

That in my eyes is unlikely however much I would love to see it. What I will say though is that Wales really do need to start turning these draws into wins if they do wish to qualify for next years World Cup in Russia. After Serbia they then face Austria at home in which they could very well win if they do manage to turn up on the night. It’ll then be two away games to Moldova and Georgia before finishing off against the Irish at home.

Serbia Team News:

Serbia have close to a full squad to face opponents Wales on Sunday night with only a couple of recent injuries. Manager Slavoljub Muslina had to send home Ljubomir Fejsa and Nemanja Radoja.

Wales Team News:

Sadly for Wales and any neutral we wont be seeing super star Gareth Bale on Sunday evening, as the Real Madrid attacker is serving a suspension after receiving his second booking of the competition against the Republic of Ireland in March.

Wales are also without Neil Taylor, Ben Woodburn, James Collins, Andy King and Hal Robson-Kanu who are all injured. Instead we will get to see five uncapped Welsh players on Sunday night.

Serbia v Wales Head to Head Statistics:

In the three games the two nations have played in we do see it is Serbia who have been the better side here with two convincing wins and the more recent draw last year. Serbia are the favourites to win again on Sunday and it does come as no surprise seeing as though Wales are missing some massive names from their squad.

Previous Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the three games played we have seen a total twelve goals scored which is going to give us a goals per game average of four. Could we potentially see many more goals this coming Sunday in Serbia who knows. Lets just hope it’s an exciting game regardless. I’d be more inclined to go with the below selection for this game seeing as though Wales seem to be playing some defensive football right now.

Serbia v Wales Recent Form (Left to Right)

Serbia: W D L D W

Wales: D D D D W

Although Wales haven’t lost a game in their last five matches they haven’t exactly won many either. Leaving Serbia with the better form with two wins and two draws, and of course the loss against Ukraine in a friendly back in November of last year.

The Draw would be a good result for Wales although it would be one too many in their eyes. That said an away point is always good especially against the toughest side in the group. Best chances of a draw are seen coming in here @ 13/5 with Betvictor – Bet £10 Get £40 when Registering a New Account

Wales to win is seen as very unlikely especially with them missing a number of first team starters. That said the best current odds found from all the leading bookmakers can be seen coming in here @ 21/4 with Bet365 – Receive £200 Matched Bets when You Register a New Account

Serbia v Wales Match Predictions, Tips & First Goal Scorer Bets.

World Cup Group D Qualifying action this Sunday can be seen live via Sky Sports 1 high definition, and features the likes of Serbia against Wales. Although both sides will be wanting the win I can only see it going one way with Serbia taking all three points. It would keep them above the Republic of Ireland as long as they win, but that does of course depend on the goals scored on the night by either sides.

Serbia are currently top of the group with the better goal difference and I can’t see the standings changing too dramatically come the end of the evening when all sides play. The Irish should beat Austria at home which would still keep them in the running, and I cannot see Wales earning another point come Sunday evening. That does leave Georgia and Moldova who both seem to be no bother at all.

Wales however will be hoping they can prove many people wrong as them winning away from home on Sunday would be a very big scalp to take. It would then put them just one point behind Serbia and of course the Republic of Ireland if they themselves managed to lose on the night also. The odds on that happening would be ridiculously high and I for one just cannot see that happening.

My predictions for this game do first off see Serbia winning on the night although I cannot see it being another 6 – 1 hammering as seen beforehand. For my banker option I am going to go with both teams scoring during the match and for the home side Serbia to take all three points. The next I am going to take is for a correct score prediction of a 2 – 2 draw on the night.
